You will get a certain amount out of American fuel, provided you can find it.
Anything added to that fuel is going to change your engine. Maybe not for the better. Cetane is length of burn. If that fuel is still burning when that piston bottom and comes back upwards.... -

In terms of the comparison between cetane and octane, while they both indicate "combustibility", they actually work in opposite fashions. A better cetane rating in diesel means the fuel ignites faster in the cylinder - an important feature to better functioning in a diesel engine. In contrast, better octane rating in gasoline means that gas ignites more slowly - which is why a better octane rating in gasoline is necessary to prevent preignition (where the gas ignites too quickly).x1Heavy Thanks this.

I do wonder sometimes, I was yea high back in the time of leaded gasoline which did pretty good, but probably did not carry the ... power per gallon that modern fuels have now probably. Those old engines, when you open them up to get up and run... whoo.
