I'm here with an update on orientation. This company is something else! I've never seen a company that goes this far to make you feel welcome like PMTG has! Wednesday we started out with 13 drivers. We lost a guy when he failed his DOT physical. Apparently he was on a medication that failed. We then went to the office for the first time. We met the inner office people and signed up for our medical, dental, direct deposit, and ordered our uniforms. You have a wide selection of uniforms to choose from. You get a $350 allowance that you don't have to pay back as long as you stay 6 months. The second year you get an additional $300 to spend and as long as you stay 90 days after you order them you're good. I received my truck and terminal assignment. I am running regional out of Jersey City with BMT. I've been assigned an International covered daycab. It's green just like my Philadelphia Eagles! It must be a good omen. I will be out 6 and home 1 with options to get by the house a couple of nights during the week as well. Wifey is estatic about it! I'm hearing that running those lanes I should make over $2000 a week! Today we had class here at the hotel and went over the ISO stuff, more safety, a little about loading, damage claims, logs, and other stuff. We are now down to 12. One guy decided that being out 14 and home 2 just wasn't for him. He lives close to Okemos so he drove himself down here and drove himself home. I was suprised, I thought he would stick. He set up a poker game here in the lobby last night and seemed to really be fitting in. Tomorrow we are still here in the hotel for classes and are scheduled to be on our way to Greer sometime Saturday. I'll update tomorrow if I get a chance. Thanks again for all the support!:)

Well I really didnt help him get the job, he asked me questions about hubbys work and I told him the truth about our experiences with PMTG, thats all. I gave him some encouragement as he was nervous about changing companies based on what I knew first hand.

Havent heard from him since he went to Greer, I am curious to get his take of things down there and how things are going for him in general, hope he posts again soon.

Sorry for the delay in the posts. I didn't have internet access in Greer and been running past the house every night all week. Greer was an experience. The trainers there are good. They make #### sure you know what to do when you get a load out of there. I had a couple of extra days there because I was swapped into a different truck and had to wait for it to be fixed. Another driver hit the tail cone on it and it had to be rebuilt and re wired. The work is harder than I thought it would be but once I get organized I will be able to really run well. This week went as follows: Monday- Got my truck after lunch from the shop and loaded my test load.
Tuesday- Drove back to NJ, spent the night at home.
Wednesday- Delivered 4 stop load in North Jersey. Loaded in Jersey City and Newark for Thursday. Spent night at the house again!
Thursday- Delivered a 5 stop load in PA then ran to Curtis Bay for Mercedes to deliver in Philly suburbs. Spent night at home.
Friday- Ran off easy 2 stops outside Philly. Ran back to Curtis Bay and loaded 2 stops for Monday in CT and NY. Blew tire 15 miles from home and slept in day cab for 3 hours until it was fixed. Oh well, life on the road. Now I have the weekend off and have a chance to catch my breath.
The money here is real. You have to go out and earn it. It doesn't come to you. I urge anyone that is not afraid to get a little dirty and work hard to give PMTG a shot. My truck number is 2101. An autoshift former Auto Elite 7 car. It is a harder truck to work than those 8 pack bar or pan trucks, but it's more versatile on what I can load then an 8 pack. Thanks to everyone for helping me make the move to BMT.

Well, my husband has just arrived in MI for his orientation with PMTG. Have been following these posts and hope all turns out well. As my husband relays info to me, I will post here. So far: the Greyhound arrangements that they made were not favorable (5 hour layover at 1am in stoneyIsland (Chgo). I suggested alternate transportation (Amtrak), absolutely no problem from them. They will reinburse the cost of the Greyhound of $75 and the Amtrak only cost $20. I have spoke with the recruiter and she is so nice. I will keep you updated as the week goes on.

I left PAM to work for BMT. I personally didn't like it, but I reckon driving a dry box has made me a lil lazy. My reasons for quitting had nothing to do with the ways of the company. They do pay very well and a friend of mine who left PAM with me to work there is still with the company (we both started in July of 2005). My biggest complaint about working for them was living in those itty bitty trucks. I drove an 8 pack bar truck with a 97 Freightliner chassis...can u say coffin sleeper? The Argosy chassis offers a bit more room, at least you can stand up to put your pants on. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents worth. Hope all of you just starting off with the company have a very successful and lucritive carreer with the company. They do a pretty good job of taking care of their drivers.

My husband agrees, but not with just the size, the condition also. He is not impressed with the equipment, I guess the trainer told him after about 6 months or a year, you'll get a better one. He was also informed that for the first six months he is only allowed to load cars when a supervisor is on duty and that his earning potential will be slimmed quite a bit til he gets some time under his belt. He is still in Okemos,MI. He is suppose to head to Greer,SC sometime Friday. There are 8 guys in this group and some will drive a rental car, and some might get a truck. Don't know how that works yet. I know I said I'd keep you posted but nothing really worth mentioning has been said yet. Monday was the physicals, Tuesday was suppose to be paperwork, but they did road tests instead, Wednesday was suppose to be paperwork, I haven't heard yet. Hasn't ordered uniforms yet but did fill out health insurance paperwork. Has I hear, I will post. Thanks...
