Look at the numbers on the speedometer, starting at 5mph would be 5th gear. 0 + 5 = 5
15 mph would be sixth. 1 + 5 = 6
25 mph is seventh. 2 + 5 = 7
...and so on. -
There's no two trucks the same. You just have to drive and find out.
Kabar Thanks this. -

you have to stop accelerating once you hit 5+5= 10th!! -
Watch your speedometer and tachometer. 1500 rpm is the top end of each gear and 12-1300 is usually the bottom. watch the relationship between the tach and speedo while in each gear, that will tell you what mph range you have for each gear. And yes 5-10 of the gears add 2 digits of the mph together is close in most of the 10 speed trucks. but there will be some differences.

Wiseguywireless, panhandlepat and Lilbit Thank this.

You can't really give a uniform answer to a question like that. It depends on the truck's driveline gearing. -
I float the Gears and Shift by listening to engine it a Bad Habbit....it still good to know MPH for the selected GeaR

Lots of difference between a 2.93 rear gear and a 4.33. Also 10 direct and 10 OD. Also even on two trucks geared alike the speedo's can each be off a mile or two in opposite directions. Watch as you run up threw gears, memorize. Thats the only solution.
