So wait until the rookie kills someone and then start monitoring them?? Im sorry but as a new driver you dont deserve any trust. You are driving an 80,000 pound rolling missile that with 1 wrong move, or 1 sec of lost focus towards a cell phone can do a hell of alot of damage. You guys starting out will see. I see more people during a day that have their cell phone in their hand than I do that don't have their phone in their hand while driving. Millis is supposed to just trust every single person they hire is going to leave the cell phone alone just because they passed a background check and work history? Trust is earned and as a new driver you haven't earned anything.

Millis has a ton of videos showing guys reaching for cell phone, texting, reaching for something in passenger seat etc that have caused an accident. You will see some of these videos at orientation. The forward facing cameras are only a big deal IF you are doing something wrong. If you are doing what you are supposed to then who gives a #### if they can see you. Like I said I've had a camera watching for 2yrs, and Ive never had 1 thing said to me regarding the inward facing cameras. I get so tired of hearing "big brother" this and that. When your at a store guess what, your on camera, when your in a machine shop, guess what your on camera. They are everywhere and they are there to protect these businesses from the multitude of idiots in this country. When you are driving you are working so they have every right to monitor their investment if they choose. When your done for the day and you go off duty or in the sleeper, cover the camera with a hat or whatever and you have your privacy now

 

Wowwww....so that's the attitude Millis has toward new drivers? That we're not to be trusted? And you as a TRAINER is saying this? Then I'm very glad I've decided to withdraw my application and sign on with another company. Thanks for enlightening me. I will stick to my opinion that if a company doesn't trust the people they hire, even while being the entity to provide their training, then they shouldn't hire them and that there is no legitimate reason for driver-facing cameras unless the driver has a history of bad behavior. I'll be leaving this forum now. I appreciate the knowledge I've gained to allow me to make a better decision. Ciao.

Kinda like this. Now, you can creep around lots to find a spot to drop your trailer (5/10 minutes), then creep around looking for new trailer (5/10 minutes) (IF it's where they say it is). All that didn't effect your 11 or 70. New Qualcomm, all that'll be on your drive line which does deduct off your 11/70. So in a week, easy hour or more off your 70. Just an example, figures could fluctuate either direction.

Nor am I, Keen98. I'm 57 years old with a spotless driving record for over 40 years on three continents. Albeit not in an OTR tractor, but I certainly am not someone the company should feel like they need to put a camera on and monitor my every move because they don't trust me. Quite frankly, that's a bull#### attitude to have toward not only new employees, but any employee. Like BazookaJoe said, the 15,000 miles spent with a trainer should EASILY answer any questions or doubt about a new hire. If not, then the trainer hasn't done his job properly.

Do you honestly think a trainee is going to pick up his phone while he's with his trainer? I'm glad you did your homework.
Oh BTW, that pesky camera spying on you when you go off duty?
