Well for one I have never lied about anything with maverick. To do the math. The direct deposit you see is what I take home not what I make. If I was to avg my low side of 800 a week (take home not what I made) 800 x 52= 41.600 Now considering I lose a couple hundred with deductions a week. my low side would be 1000 x 52 which is 52000. Now a lot of times I take home 1200 and make that 1400 I made times 52 would be 72.800 so how can you figure that you can not avg over 52 a year?
I have pulled vans, wiggles, tankers and flats. The money is there if you are willing to work in flatbedding. I realize I do not work 52 weeks a year and I do not always max my check, but we are not even including bonuses which can be 1200 a quarter in fuel bonuses. You make it sound like you can barely make 30,000 a year trucking.Faber Thanks this. -
i dont want to call you a liar notarps. But it sure will sound like it, i drive for maverick and i can say with great confidence that you are one of the very few drivers that are averaging that kind of money, the vast majority of us are making much less due to the slowdown and yes i have bad and good weeks but lately it has been more bad than good. It would be reaaaly nice if what you said was totallytrue, no one i know is averaging that kind of money

heres my question lol
1)do you really think anyone else is havin a better time w. the money?? from personal experience, this is the time of year when most frieght slows down anyways, even w. oversize work like i used to do, they wont let you on the highway in anything less than perfect weather conditions and this time of year.. not so good
ive run local, regional and long haul w. reefers, tankers, flats and straight trucks, even ran wrecker (and OMG IS THIS TIME OF YEAR PERFECT FOR THAT if u can handle the 20hr days lol)
is mav even hiring w. the situation the way it is? -
Nope, much to my dismay, Maverick is on a hiring freeze. Had a prehire I was excited about at the start of school... by graduation it was gone. Until further notice anyway.
Now I'm stuck with just a Werner rehire, as if my 2 months of research here saved me from nothing!
I may have something at McElroy though, they've asked for my DMV and DOT long form which I've sent. -
Well; for one my freight has slowed as well. There are a few reasons why when the freight is there that I run good. They know that I am dependable. I make my miles by trucking smart. I leave home early enough to get to my monday drop or close to it where when I kick my load off I have 10-11 hours available to drive not 1-3 hours. I have my own system. Every move I make is productive. I already have my paperwork filled out before I am unloaded. I even have my qual comm message filled out. (empty call) The only thing I have left to enter is who signed the bills. When I get it I send it. That puts me on the board as available. I just unloaded behind 2 other maverick drivers in Ft Worth. One got dispatched then I did. The other one was still not dispatched. I am assuming I got on the board before he did.
I got a 2 stopper. I slept at the 1st drop and kicked the load off and made my 2nd drop. Then went to a truckstop. When I pulled in I saw the driver who was in TX with me. He was empty. I went and talked to him. He dropped 1 drop in the same city that I made my 2nd drop in. I was dispatched first. His and mine picks up in the am. He was going to stay there. I drove 30 miles from my pic and shut down. He has been with the company a year longer than me, so he is not a new driver. The guy that runs smart and has a good rep is going to be the guy that gets the loads.

yes oh yes i truck smart too but its tough to truck smart when there is no freight to take places i do pretty much everything you do and yet sit up to 4 if no more hours to get dispatched (right now new bern NC sent empty call at 0900 its 1400) which of course is reflected on my pay. Good thing i dont have a family to take care for, otherwise i would be in deep trouble the way things have been in the last month.

thats really the key, is runnin smart, ive always pushed to get to the shipper the night b4 so that when they are ready to pull me in to load, i can do a 15min pretrip, drop it in the dock and start my day and get a good hard push in on load day, most of my loads were load+run day 1, run+unload around 4p on day 2.. worked out soo nice unless i had 200+mi of deadhead lol
i know whatcha mean bout supportin a fam, i came off the road to work as a local mechanic for GM, thanks to the unions burning GM down to almost bankrupt, they killed my reimbursements for school.. so.. now ive got $45k in tools, no job, and no way to finish school, started droppin applications for flatbed work back in sept (ive had my CDL since feb 2003) and everyone i know has been frozen since about mid nov.. good news is, my folks live in town.. so things cant get much worse for us.. here's praying that congress does the right thing (and not the money thing) to get things "unstuck".. pouring money at a prob only makes it more expensive to fix -
I have not lied about my wages. Today's deposit was $721.47 to the house. As I have said I usually avg 800-1200 to the house. I have weeks where it might be 600-700 take home, but I can't complain. I know there are drivers making more than me, so I don't know what your situation is on your pay. It has slowed down, but you make it sound like you are barely getting by. I have never been on the top board for highest mileage, so I know guys are making more than me. I am in the top 10 for fuel mlieage. If I can do it other drivers ought to be able to do it. It all falls on how you run your truck.

ok like i said i truck smart too started week with 700 miles dropped monday about 8 am sat about 6 hours got dispatched to pick up tuesday to deliver on thursday (600 mile run no early delivery possible) dropped my load at 0900 (appointment time, went to bed 11 miles away from drop) sent empty call just before finished unloading sat there all day at 1800 got call to lay over. on friday (today) got dispatch to pick up load at 1900 and it drops on monday 130 empty 565 loaded to make a long story short what do you see me doing wrong here? or better yet why do you insist on painting a rosey picture? why do you insist that the drivers not making good money the fault rest at our shoulders? you know.. i know.. could it be because this is you second job?? i could use the referral money too.. but in doing that it would be more of a disservice to the fellow man.
