My neighbor singled out his W9 and pulls his 38' 5th wheel toyhauler.

What I need to know is how much to stretch the frame . I plan on building the bed myself. I would like to get an o/o opinion on the car lift ( rear only or front and rear) .
I guess I should have explained better , I'm building a tow & haul to transport new campers

As far as wiring electrical go you would need to build an adapter to convert your big rig 7-pin round connector to the RV-style 7-blade connector. In order to do this you would need to buy 3 things, I buy these from etrailer.com so do a search there for the item number you can see pictures

1/ Hopkins Tail Light Converter Kit with 4-Way Flat Connector - LED Compatible
    Item # HM48895

2/ CR Brophy Replacement 7-Pole, Trailer Connector Socket - Vehicle End
    Item # R7CB

3/ Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV Blade-Style Trailer Socket - Vehicle End
    Item # PK12-707E

You would also need to install an electric brake controller into your rig, I use

Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional
    Item # 331-EBRH-ACCV2

Also a 30amp circuit breaker for your electric brake controller

Pollak Circuit Breaker - Cycling/Automatic Reset - 30 Amp - Straight Mount Bracket
    Item # PK54530

You would also need some 7-wire trailer cable and some 2-wire 16-awg to wire it all up, I buy these by the foot on eBay as needed.

I tow my camper with my 387, adding a bed to haul campers on the truck, what wheelbase is your truck now and, what is the back of the cab to the tandem centerline?

Do you plan to tow 5th wheels behind the truck or bumper pulls? There are several guys that RV with full size trucks and jeeps on decks that pull 5th wheels behind them. The average flat deck is 16-18' plus a beavertail with a camper 5th wheel hitch in the middle. There is another guy that has a 20' roll back bed with a stinger style 5th wheel hitch. If you can find one used that may be the best route,

Why do you have to build anything? If you want to do bumper-pull trailers all you have to do is build/install a 2" hitch receiver in the back of your big rig. All the 5th wheel campers have 2" king pin you can just hook them up to your big rig 5th wheel, you might want to buy a 5th wheel teflon lube plate.

Curt Lube Plate for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 12" Diameter

While a Holland hitch will work, for any long distance towing and per most RV factory requirements, at the minimum you need an articulating hitch. There are several air ride RV hitches that are made for towing an RV with MDT/HDT trucks. The neck and pin box on RV's can be easily cracked by using a standard truck 5th wheel.

There are a few guys that have RV 5th wheels behind their regular hitch, they haul freight with the standard hitch, tow their camper with the RV hitch. Not sure but, the factories may insist on a RV hitch for delivery?

I have a haul and tow but my suggestion is to measure one in person . A lot of measurements = easy mistake in translation of measurements . I do know that some people have trouble with Volvos being front heavy after conversion to haul and tow . They either have to move fuel tanks rearward or add weight way in the back .

    RV transporter Thanks this.
