Heh Cybergirl,
Do you know what Schnieder considers as an "experienced" driver?
Does experienced mean 10-12 years experience, or experience in the last year? Just curious!

I'm not interested but if you are interested, go to their website. I doubt that it's 10 to 12 years, probably 3 or less.
If you find anything of interest to others, I know some people that would appreciate it.Cybergal Thanks this. -
AGREED!
Cause, I have NO idea. THANKS -
WOW! That is something I never thought would happen, with the HUGE driver shortage we supposedly have.

I checked their website, it says "Seasoned truck drivers, with at least six months tractor trailer driving experience"(the word "seasoned" made me chuckle) are considered experienced. As with most, if not all websites, it doesn't say anything about being off the road for awhile. It would be alot easier for people looking for driving jobs, if they would put the words "recent" in their requirements. Such as "6mo. recent experience required". After looking for over two months, I know that this is a requirement, but alot of people that just started looking, will not realize this, and waste alot of time applying for jobs that they have no chance of getting.
I did send them an e-mail, asking if I would be considered as experienced or inexperienced? If they answer, I will pass it on.

Thanks Maverick. Wonder what they consider seasoning myself?
Recent varies with some needing within the past six months and some needing say two of the last 3 years or something like that. My wife brought up the fact that experienced drivers would probably have to go trhough some training and would be liable for expenses if the job didn't pan out, be very careful signing anything. Schneider has ways of doing almost anything that may seem strange to someone with other experience. -
there web site is still saying they train inexperienced drivers they must not have updated it yet

Just got a reply from Schnieder:
"The first step in our selection process is to review your profile information and resume. If your skills and experience meet Schneider Nationals employment needs, we will contact you to schedule an initial screening interview.
We encourage you to create a profile, attach your resume and take a look at available opportunities."
Guess my original question was to hard for them to answer:
If a driver has 20 years, 10-12 years OTR, but has not driven for over five years, is he considered experienced or inexperienced?
My guess, it is a computer generated answer that they send to any question they are asked. Cheaper than paying someone to sit there and answer individual questions.

rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
From the posting that I got from Racine County Workforce Development Center, Schnieder will be having a recruiting going on on Jan 13th. The are looking for experianced drivers only. 1/2 to 1 year of recent driving experiance is required. I was supposed to start at Schnieders Green Bay Wi training place on November 8th, but it was cancelled. No more newbie training. Looks like I'll be looking for different employment elsewhere. In August I retired from Chrysler after 35 years of being there. Thought I'd retire and be a semi driver. Good idea, bad timing. If I would have moved on this a month earlier I'd be sitting good right now. MY childhood dream would have been a reality. I would have been a driver like my father was. In the posting it mentions that there are 100 openings. Good luck.
