Well no, I don`t argue that point. And nothing wrong with a 3500/350 or something, I just isn`t something I would prefer to use is all. I apologize if I came off as rude or insulting, it was not the intent. Own numbers as in MC and DOT and so on? Yes, I plan on doing that yes. I am looking to run under my own Authority and such. My own truck and so on. I may be putting a down payment to my own trailer as well.
So you want to hot-shot? (Will be updated/edited frequently)

This forum has been very helpful. Thanks to you all for your posts. I've been running hotshot for about three months now and love it. Doing well! My question for you guys is what size tarps should I have. Been running loads without tarps but had to turn down some good paying loads because I did not have tarps yet. Thanks for the help.
Lite bug Thanks this. -

hey guys I really need help getting my cdl, all these schools are way over priced for something Im not going to be doing (driving a semi) Is there anyone out there willing to teach me how to drive these trucks with a trailer. I can pass that written test by myself I just want someone to help me practice for the driving test, of course for some compensation. Im located in Los Angeles county
thanks -
@Lite bug:
What is the typical weights you haul or, should I ask, what are you usually grossing? -
Hi guys another newb looking to get started in Texas.

Well, m reading this thread and learning quite a lot...till not sure about jumping in at owner op/level. But, am starting to think i may be able to get the flexibility i want by running hotshots and campers. Also, am trying to get out of drivin so much and starting my own custom woodwork business...I took about a month off after trying a little stint with Werner...and now am doing a local oute that is anything but local...spent a lot of my days off cutting and milling logs. Figured out my half ton wasnt going to haul the amount i wanted, bought a 2011 chevrolet 1 ton, duramax dually, with custom hauler bed and gooseneck. 115,000 miles...so now im thinking, what if i can use this truck to make some money and pull my logs.???ultimately i would like to spend two weeks driving and two weeks milling boards and custom woodworking...thanks for all the great info...have some ? Once i get them thought out. My go with a company at first to try it. Not sure.

@Alek, you get out what you put in bud, CDL can be easy to get but putting down you was trained at a school would not look bad on your Carrier info.

Just an fyi....mosts states have a work force in action program that has grant money to pay for cdl school....may even help with gas and living expenses while you attend training....
