I was going through some pamphlets from all the recruiters that came to my course. McElroy's caught my attention, because the regional pay for someone new was 48cpm, they offer free health insurance, and have a rider program.
I might apply to them, but it doesn't sound like I would ever get out west with them.
I want to work somewhere that would get me the 48-state experience or at least serve the western region of the country.
Chinatown, suggested Jones bros to me, so I was wondering if there were others.
I could change my residence to family's addresses in southern CA or Nashville if it would help me get the job I want.
Also, about how much can one expect to make their first year OTR flatbedding?

Melton is a true 48 state flatbed carrier that hires in your area. Passenger & pets allowed.
First year anywhere should be a minimum of $50k, if you make less you're either lazy, at the wrong company, or both.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Melton Truck Lines, Jones Bros. Trucking, Britton Transport if you want to see the west coast and take the wife.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Jones Bros would be a good option. They're a smaller company and you'll likely have a better experience there than at some of the larger ones.

I believe theyre looking for experienced drivers. If you want starter company try System. They will fly you out to orientation and then assign a trainer for 4-8 weeks.

You are correct, I misread the ad. Jones Bros will take students though.

I was just on Craigslist and I see Central Oregon is now advertising as Nationwide also. So they may be worth a call too

Melton or Maverick. Stay away from system, tmc, and any company that tries to bait you into a fleece purchase.

Im happy with Melton. I started 8-9 months ago. They have paid all the bonuses and kept every recruiting promise. Some on here don't like them but I still do.

That post is from a year ago and I am actually still with them. Still pretty happy. Since 2018 we have been super busy. You don’t wait more than a few mins for your next load. We all got raises. Every week I either have to run recap or do a reset over the weekend. The negs are you are either gonna get used to a camera and micromanagement or goodbye. Not bad overall.CharlieK Thanks this.
