Last September/August. I don't know the motor brand.

I drive a '16 Freightiner with the DD15/DT12 combo and I approve this message.Odin's Rabid Dog Thanks this.

You guys must be in a region where it never snows huh?Coover Thanks this.

Not me, I'm OTR. All 48 states and Canada.

Ok then you don't have a 2 axle tractor like many large LTL co's mostly use in their fleets. It's bad enough that we run a single screw, but compound that with an automatic like the '16 you described above and slick roads and it's a recipe for a spin out.

Just saying I don't like automatic transmissions in my line of work.Redtwin Thanks this.

Yup, twin screw. What is the issue you have with autos in the snow?. My truck has traction control, I couldn't do a 360 in snow even if I tried. Maybe if I switched the traction control off but I doubt that is a good idea.

For one thing you don't have control of the clutch, so you can't feather it when starting out on a slick surface. Then once the tires break loose, you can't rock the chassis very well in an attempt to get out. This is especially bad when bobtail, say parked in a lot after a snowstorm, but also when hooked to combination pups. Unless you have a heavy load over the drive axle it is pretty easy to break traction with a light touch of the throttle.
My other gripe is the lack of control over the RPM's when pulling a grade for example it will shift when you don't necessarily want it to, sometimes causing the RPM's to put more torque to the axle when you are climbing a slick or snow covered surface. Once you spin out with a single drive axle, you better be ready to jump out and chain up in a hurry.Redtwin Thanks this. -
Does anyone have any info on AAA Cooper for linehaul out of the Charlotte, NC terminal? What’s the mileage pay? Do they do sleeps or turn every night?
