The Pilot at Resaca GA has a BIG problem with local freeloaders thinking they own those spots. They even park their cars in them.
Rocks Thanks this. -
If you follow my posts you know my take on this. The owner of the unit or operator acting as the owners agent is responsible for securing space for the vehicle. Sometimes it is a courtesy arrangement, you patronize my business I let u park. You pay me $ I let you occupy my real estate.
The problem is the guys who do neither, and think the world owes them a truck terminal wherever they are. And more often than not the guys are multi millionaires like Jerry Moyes, the former owner of Swift Transportation who only will purchase enough terminal space for 10% of his 50,000 odd trailers and 15,000 tractors.
Don't get me started.Tb0n3 Thanks this. -
Storage facility, outside gated lot. $65.00 a month been doing it for 7 years never had a problem. Bonus I get to work on my truck there also.
Rocks and Studebaker Hawk Thank this. -
why don't you just park your truck in your driveway like I do
-
I understand why they are doing it. Some of those stops are a parking lot full of cars. Makes it hard for the local cars to run in and out

LA... yeah.. I went to that big truck stop near New Orleans, the Palace Truck stop and Casino... their parking lot is big but after circumnavigating the place, I found ONE empty spot...
and that was before noon.... the whole lot was filled up with junk and trailers, and empty trucks, and cars...Their drivers would leave them there...

I see that same situation every where... big and small truck stops filled up with local trucks and vehicles their drivers leave there during the day... talking about independent truck stops... it's hard to find a place to park... I was told their local drivers spend more money at their truck stops than us, OTRs.....

My company is in OKC but I take hometime in TN where real estate is very expensive... but my hometime lasts for a week and I don't feel safe leaving the truck at a truck stop and don't want to take the parking space from another trucker... so I pay $150.00 a month for a parking spot inside a fenced, gated lot with video cameras and security 24/7 where I can also leave my vehicle when I am out on the road...
