I have to be the only Trucker that has lost weight starting this job.

3 months into it and down 15 pounds fron 223.

I drink water all day and snack on celery or cheese.

Good food in the pressure cooker at night.

Keep my soda intake down to a minimum , just got hooked on Dr Peppers again, but got got that under control.

Stretching is very important for your back as is getting up out of the seat and getting some circulation going again as well as a good supportive seat.

I knew there were people in the industry who could lose weight doing this job. Stretching is very important. I may not be able to do the appliances since I'm looking at a JetSet position but will in the future. I drink about 1 gallon of water a day. I will stop to pee and to stretch even if it costs me some time. It's better to be healthy so you can keep driving.

Check out this guy over at Prime. He was their Driver Health and Fitness Coordinator. He's a beast with it and he'll help any driver at any company.

Don't know if he's still there. Here's his website:

The defense response hormone, cortisol, is a main culprit responsible for trucker belly.

Stress triggers it and it goes to work to protect vital organs, kidneys, liver, etc. which is why truckers usually have extra padding around the middle.

I meditate everyday and have been doing it for 19 years. It's gaining more traction. I have also been doing ome form of yoga since 1988. You gotta keep limber and I'm constantly tight.

I just found a program that I think will work with trucking. It's in a book named: Simple & Sinister, by Pavel Tsatsouline.
Only problem I can see is finding a place to do Turkish Getups. But they do so much for you. It's worth the hassle.

I carry running shoes, a set of 25 lbs. dumbbells, and a jump rope, I try and work out three times a week as a minimum. It’s definitely not easy, but it can be done.
