i have a 2011 cascadia with a dd13. I’m currently at 840k miles. I’ve heard from other drivers that around the 800k mileage and up range I should expect to see issues with my engine. Can anyone tell me what I should expect to see or anything I could do to prevent anything from happening that’s going to be a major fix? I already have a new turbo and egr. Plus I replaced all the belts as well.

you should let the engine do the talking and not listen to trucker stories.

Listen to your engine, watch oil consumption, do oil analysis.... just stay on top of it and do preventive maintenance. Some engines can go long ways before u have to do any major work to it. All depends who owns the truck and how good or bad maintenance is.
Indigojones47 and rolls canardly Thank this. -
What?
You haven't been doing an OA at and between oil changes?
AN OA is your front line defense.
ALSO a dyno with blowby will tell you when it is time.
Stop listening to the ignorant driver and start running the truck right.Indigojones47 Thanks this. -
What’s a OA and a Dyno?
-
so regarding an overhaul, it's common practice to wait until something comes lose? is there a way to measure the internal tolerances/clearances when they do a valve adjustment or something? you know, without having to undress the whole block...

An OA is an oil analysis. They get a sample and send it in to a lab to check it. Don't bother with the ones at truckstops or Speedco. This will tell you if you are getting contaminants like coolant, fuel, bearing material and other metals. Should be run at least at every oil change. Dyno-simple explanation. For a dyno the truck is put on a machine and is run under a load in a shop. This will tell you the condition of tthe engine. And at the same time a test is run to determine excessive blow by.
All of these should be run before anyone buys a used truck.Indigojones47 Thanks this.
