Either rush truck centers know something we do not know as they told me there is a possibility of cat staying in. How they know is something beyond me.

You cat guys can say all you want. But i passed to many of ya climbing hills, and got way better fuel mileage with my isx. Only had to put it in the shop once for a water pump they got my in and out same day. And non of this isn't covered under warranty crap like CAT does. So replace that broke camshaft one more time.:biggrin_25525:

Yes go replace your broke ISX cams, because they do break, and break often. A CAT snapping cams? GTFO.

I have to admit the signatures over here do go very well and do get better MPGs than CAT,a 565 Cummins will blow a 550 CAT away.
With my C 16 back to stock its making good HP but still has to work hard to stay in front of a 580 Cummins the 620s are to good.
BUT the Cummins are very bad on oil consumption and you have to drive them like you stole them keeping the RPMs way up,I prefer to drive a CAT its way easier.
As for CATs breaking a cam I have never heard of it.

Drive it like you stole it is right...

mine is a dog. feels so flat to drive..

565, that was whp rated.. acording to cummins so the power specs dont compare to the cats..

I've never heard of a acert breaking a cam, just rocker arms and iva hold down bolts. I guess if they do break cams I should start looking for a high performance one.

This actually makes a lot of sense if you look back to June 2008 when Cat and International made their announcement of their intention to develop joint engine technology. It also tells me they have been working on EGR together for quite some time and probably started after their early 2007 Acert motor with the CRS system was having so many field problems.
This move will probably now allow International to dump the Cummins products they now offer since International has announced they are 100% committed to EGR only and want no part of SCR in 2010. I also heard that 2 other european engine builders( Scania and Mann) have both announced they are not using SCR either next year. That leaves Volvo and Mercedes as the only SCR players in europe. Remembering SCR has been around over there since 2005, and the fact Scania and Mann are dumping the technology, leads me to believe the urea may be more problematic than 1st believed.
With International going only EGR, they are now truly differentiated from Freightliner, PACCAR, Volvo, and Mack and should be able to offer a simpler "mouse trap" of emission compliant engines.
A Maxforce 15 liter( Cat C15 EGR) in a Lone Star chassis may just take a chunk out of KW, Pete, and Freightliner's business....time will tell!

A 600 cummins feels like a fuel starved 500 cat. I don't even know why they call it a 600, it won't make 600 hp until 1900 rpms and that is according to cummins company info. When are you going to see 1900 rpms, upshifting, no, maybe with your downshifting. You don't cruise down the highway at 1900 so it is for advertising purposes only. Now a 600 cat will make 600 hp at 1600rpms, thats usable power, cummins busting power. I remember when the 60 series came out and I would hear drivers say they had a cat killer, cat man would say where you at hand, detroit driver, oh, im going the other way, cat man, thats all right I will turn around. Remember the outside line of the hammer lane is yellow for reason, thats BIG CAT TERRITORY and don't you forget it.Ive been forced to drive cummins for years, they won't pull a greasy string out of a cats butt. ISK is no different, single gay turbo and just look at how much more a cat engine weighs, much more solidly built. 600 Cummins is good engine to pull my motor home with.
