I am very happy for you that the new rules are working for you..keep up the good work at running legal..and being a professional trucker..i hope it continues to work good for you..

But i will do it my way until they come out with a better way that is more comfortable for myself..as a professional driver.

until that day comes i will do it like i been doing since 1980's..OH by the way my record is clearly impecable doing it ''my way''...

    why is that?hmmmmmmmmmm

Do ya think maybe the ''rules" are based alot on earning revenue for the goverment...??????

I better be prepared for the new ''laws'' on D.O.T. approved jock straps...statistics show while worn you are less fatigued....lmao

It appears to me that you are very knowledgeable on the subject of regulations related to logbooks. It was not my intention to tech you or imply that you were wrong. After 15 years I have to say the I find myself at a loss on how to log a variety of the situations that often confront drivers. In most all areas of trucking, if you don't know how to do something, you can always ask another driver. But, when DOT say, "Let's see your logbook." You are on your own and it better be right. I'm all ears whenever anyone, genuinely informed, offers advice on logbook entries.

But logging a DOT inquiry? I ain't gonna do it, and can't imagine anybody citing a driver for failure to do it. Thanks.

I come threw AR the other night and I was at my limit on my hours. I went threw 3 truck stops and could not find a parking spot and also went threw 2 rest areas. Then I went about a hundred more miles down the road and found a hole in the wall truck stop with one spot left. but I also passed two scales that were close and had a gate blocking the entrance. What would it have hurt to let trucks park in there for the night.

Most states in the midwest allow parking at the scales, some encourage it.

Yea I know most dose. My thought is if one of them scales would have been open and had checked my log book they would have gave me a fine. I ant trying to say I run leageal all the time but I know when I have pushed it far enough. Then I read wher I think it is IL sutting 5 reast areas down and in most states they will write you a ticket for pulling off on a ramp.

I would have to agree with you (except for the three logs, I can't keep one straight, much less three). As for loose-leaf logs, I say, "Never leave home without them!". My biggest complaint about the new HOS is the 14-hour Rule. Before, you could run say 6 or 7 hours and finding yourself to tired to continue, log yourself into the sleeper. At that point, your on-duty time stopped, resuming only when you went back on-duty. Now, if you logged 5 hours on-duty, then drove six hours of a 9 hour run, and then become so sleepy that you feel the need to stop and take a nap, can you do so? No! The 14-hour rule says keep on running or you are not going to make it.
The 14-hours, once started, stops for no reason. In the above situation, 5 hrs on-duty not driving, plus the 6 you drove, leaves you with 3 hrs left, which is how many you need to stay legal. That is insane! Yet, it happens all the time. I know what I am going to do; pull my loose-leaf page out, re-write a fresh one, and give myself the time to nap, and get there safely.

As for M.A.D.D., just refer them to D.A.M.M. (Drunk Drivers Against Mad Mothers)!

    what they did is this..

They put 'tired truckers on the road'

    and then

put drivers that are ready to go in the sleeper..

I do to agree with there ruling and think they just made it unsafer..

Follow the rules and laws and you will have no problems. The day is coming when all the unsafe and outlaw drivers are gone. Whne that happens we will all be much safer.
