It's not just about Werner, imagine you will drive somewhere down a road, and car will rear end you, well guess what?? They will sue you for just been there and driving below speed limit

Someone walks under your trailer while you are traveling through town because they were busy texting on the phone. Well, it's your fault because you could have went around the town instead of going through it.

In this case the argument was more about the quality of training of the involved driver (or lack there of) than it was the actual circumstances of the crash itself. They said if the driver was better trained and dispatch priority was different, it would not have happened.

You think it's a good idea for a student driver to run a full shift as half of an "expedited team"? Did you notice when the load was due in California? It had to move 20 more hours straight.

I thought trainer trucks were forbidden from running as full team truck On expedited movements.

And who is the carrier typically lobbying for [and getting] ridiculous new exemptions related to trucking and new drivers like they're somehow so special and outside of the same rules that the smaller carriers must follow? WERNER!!

No, they will focus on more "safety tools".

We will now have an audible warning when the outside temp drops beloiw 35.

Every truck will have a cb that will always be on, but will not have a Mic because that would violate "hands free".

Every truck will receive hourly weather updates that will be read out automatically over the truck speakers - regardless of what the driver is doing.

Trucks will have to follow a designated route that will change as the weather changes.

Thata what i got from the article, the verdict was more about punishing werner for being a driver mill in the worst way.

That being said, the werner driver is stuck in the middle of it, and werner as a company is the one the prosecutors were after. In my opinion.

If you ask me, Werner's chickens may have finally and officially came home to roost. So excuse me if I don't shed a tear. Now, CR England, Swift, CRST, and the others will have to hope they're not next on the chopping block.

See this is what is wrong with this thought process. If the new driver was AT FAULT for the accident then yes that is totally understandable. To punish Werner for allowing a new driver to drive in icey conditions when he did nothing wrong makes no sense. Would rather him do it and learn with a trainer than in his own. Maybe there is something we dont know the jury does..was there video that showed the new driver could have avoided the accident if he was experienced? Was his trainer sleeping in the bunk? When it comes down to it really though from just the basics of what we know it really does not matter..driver of veh 2 had control of his vehicle and did not lose control. Driver of veh 1 did and I guarantee that is what was shown on the accident report...veh 2 shouldn't have been there?? Where does this madness end? Someone loses control amd hits my mailbox but it's my fault I put it there because it's near the road..no your ####### lost control and hit it..no different.

The 16 Cascadia Evo I drove had that, but 37 degrees.
