Disagree.
Futures are emotionally driven, spot markets are more related to reality.
oil is a good example, when there is an issue in the Middle East, futures respond even though it may be not a factual issue.
However the market for used trucks only seem to show asking prices, not actual sales prices but the asking price. Unlike the real estate market, we don't see the two important indicators to analyze the data - length of time on the market and the actual sale price.
Anyone who why older trucks are costing soo much?

What you are describing is called a glider. Its a brand new truck with an older rebuilt engine and transmission put in it. Another option that's very viable for a person that doesn't mind doing some work and has the spare time is getting an old truck with the big sleeper and rebuilding the cab/ sleeper and suspension while working the current truck, then when everything else is done swapping the engine and transmission in.rank Thanks this.

I think emotions play a big tinge in driving truck prices up. Every time rates go up due to tight capacity, every tom dick and Harry buys a truck driving truck prices up thinking they are gonna syringe it rich. when enough of them do this capacity loosens up driving rates back down and 98%of those same guys get back out of the market. They got into the business due to an emotional decision, not a business one based on facts.

Depends on your contract. Its called negotiations, you'd be out of your mind if you seen the rate that $600 truck moves for and don't forget the check I gave them when I first signed the contract was 5 digits. Don't say no way and assume everyone is not telling you the truth and until you really know you know nothing.
