Nobody said anything about not doing inspections . We just said you only have to write the city and state when you log it , not what you did . See the example log in the FMCSA link in my previous post .
logbook what do I have to show?

395.8(h)(5).....city and state location is all that is required under the federal regulations but the motor carrier may require more so check with them. Here it is from the rules:
(h)(5) Location - Remarks. The name of the city, town, or village, with State abbreviation where each change of duty status occurs shall be recorded.

Coonass Thanks this. -
Well I will just keep logging "Pretrip" and "Post trip" and "Loading" "unloading" and "Fuel" etc.
That way I don't have to answer a DOT officer if He/She asks me what I was doing at that time.
Less time answering questions and back on the road quicker.
Just like when I get to customs. Draw a line down and flag the time if less then 15 mins and say "Customs, Anytown, Anystate"
Or if I stop in a rest area. Mile marker, highway, rest area "shoot rambo radio user" -
Tell you a secret........shhhh, don't tell anybody...........the more you write the easier it is for you to hang yourself out to dry when the state enforcement people pull you behind the inspection/weigh facility.walleye, Arthur Dent and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
I got it. I looked on the back of my log book and it had an example.
i can put what I did and the city.
I am good thanks anyway. -
You must also remember that the rules do not allow you to abbreviate a city name; only the state may be abbreviated. There is no city named "Indy" in IN, and no city named OKC, in OK.

I did read it and you (and anyone else who thinks this way) are wrong. You must put down what you did at that time. I can tell you if you don't and you get inspected and the officer has to guess what you did. You will get a ticket if not put out of service. City,State, What you did.

I put city and state, then i put PTI
