Well I must go to work now. To me it's really not like work though, I didn't realize how arduous a task it was until I joined TTR.

I'd like to stay and feal sorry for myself, but I'm already committed to doing a good job, and making money, so I gotta run.

 

If you're directing that at me, I didn't say I've recently seen 4k to 5k van rates out of WA/OR to L.A.

The WA/OR lumber rates to L.A. are about a thousand bucks...on a good day.

I refuse to haul it and have found a niche that works for me staying right here in the PNW.

 

According to Morgan stanley freight index for dry van hit record highs in March and record lows in capacity. Even freaking Florida had more than an 18 load to truck ratio. Both leveled off a bit for april. Open deck however was still showing strong rate growth and shrinking capacity through april. I can't speak about reefer cause i only browse over that info, ill never own another reefer trailer. Ever.

 

I am not saying they lobbied against them. I'm saying Elogs were the ata's response to the threat from Congress to the industry: Either police yourselves or will will police you. I started trucking in 1995 and federally mandated electronic monitoring was being talked about even then, long before the ata embraced elogs. After the ata major players all switched to forms of elogs the statistical success of elogs was then the used in the next step to further keep highway safety groups at bay in legislative talks.

I hablve no love for the ata, however they are much preferable than groups such as mothers against tired truckers. Yes our current hos and elogs are restrictive and i have days i hate both, but it's vastly superior than what we would have gotten if the ata did not step up and push elogs as the solution.

 

Don’t forget to hit the trip reset. Wait, scratch that, I forgot what the prize was. I’m just glad Elogs stopped all crashes.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. I drive 60-62 also but everyone driving the same speed is a different thing

 

In my opinion, running the same speed in a group of trucks is dangerous. I may pull out and pass at 70-75 mph, then once I'm by myself drop back to 60-65.

I think it's very unsafe to plod along another truck taking 10 miles to complete one pass. Or heaven forbid you hit a hill and have to start all over
