Hey guys. I'm very close to coming over to Prime.
However , i'm hoping for just a little more insight from lease/trainers.
My last weeks settlement from CRE is horrid. When I signed the lease, I knew is was a horrible deal, but still better than a Company driver.
My week was pretty good, with no negatives or other holdbacks that would affect this settelment. I ran 5098 miles and 425 empty. I'm on fuel cap # 1.25pg, and the truck gets crappy mileage; about 5.60mpg.
So my net was $1588 bucks. My prior lease at Central , with the same miles would have paid me around $2650. The catch at CRE is what they call the Variable lease payment # 14cpm. this week was $773. That's my Margin, the difference between a good week and medicore.
Can anyone tell me if i run like this at prime, all other things being equal, that I would do WAY WAY better?

how is it posible to run 5098 miles a week ?
i have never worked for prime but it is no secret that those $800 a week lease trucks only benifit the company.

NEVER WORKED FOR PRIME. Well, there you go, then. So how do you know about it? Listening to whiners here and at the Whine Bars (truck stops)? Freight is slow, but Prime keeps moving. Have some family issues right now, or I would be headed to Springfield again.MarineNewRookie Thanks this.

Thats funny I read and post on another site and the lease guys are doing alot of sitting around and not making money while the company trucks are running pretty good. I wonder why? No I don't I know why. And yes I worked there. If you don't get lucky and get a real good dispatcher you will noy do good there. It isn't what you know it is how lucky you get when they assign your dispatcher.MarineNewRookie Thanks this.

I leased with Prime for a year, to the day, 2/15/07-2/15/08. It started out real good, plenty of miles, home every weekend, good paying freight, except a couple of times taking loads up to New England. Rates up there were awesome, but coming out, I barely covered expenses. Averaged, it was okay though. Same with going into Florida, or California. But, I found that the best weeks, were when I had a load into either Texas, or Florida for a monday delivery and spent the whole week there, with a load coming home on Friday. Intra-Texas/Florida loads paid real good.
Then about October and November, fuel prices started soaring and the FS didn't keep up. At the same time, I had some mechanical problem that dropped my fuel mileage to under 6 mpg. Took it in three times, cost a ton of money and they never did figure out what it was. Then December and January hit, with low freight volume (did I mention I was flatbed?) and I started staying out two weeks straight, getting that one extra long load on Friday, for a Monday delivery.
By February, my take home pay was less than a company driver that got home every weekend. Then the coup de grace. Only load available was a delivery in SLC on Friday and spend the weekend at that hell hole they call a terminal. Hey, I'm Southeast Regional. Last time I checked Utah wasn't a part of Dixie. Called TMC while I was down and told the weekend dispatcher to find something toward Springfield.
