All I know is I drove from Rock Creek to Missoula and didn’t have any traffic coming up behind me.
I agree that one of these two should’ve done something to let the other get away. For all I know they could’ve been doing battle for the last 100 miles before I came up on them too.
Drafting...

I couldn't tell you the fuel savings, but I can tell you that getting caught with your phone in your hands taking a picture of a truck drafting can get really expensive.
snowlauncher, rank and ncmickey Thank this. -
So it wasn't a matter of "drafting", it was one truck waiting for another truck to get the hell out of the way so he could get out to pass but loss of momentum/torque, gravity, and incline also had to be dealt with. Nothing to see here. We all get in that situation at some point especially when everybody is running within 3 mph of each other, and all at different weights, all the way across Montana
If Witte pulled out somewhat in front of you, you'd probably have reamed him a new one. So for the time being, he chose option 2 of 3. Yes, option 3 is the "safe" option but we don't always do it, just depends on the situation. They are all different. -
Same BS everyday on every interstate in US & Canada. Dumb & DumberTb0n3 Thanks this.

Totally flat so no loss of momentum. That’s why I have a hunch they’d been battling each other long before I came up.
They were both camped out in the right lane about that same distance apart when I came up on them, the only thing that would’ve irritated me would’ve been if he had pulled out and blocked the left lane for 12 miles like he did after I got around.Opendeck Thanks this. -
That looks like the owners son DIM driving
rolls canardly and krupa530 Thank this. -
I can only assume that they get very impressive efficiency by drafting me -- at least until they get a clue and go find someone else to harass.
(I'm not particularly confident about their skillful and instantaneous reaction time, so I do what I can to prevent the other aggressive drivers around from occasioning it) -
I have to laugh.
I rarely draft where possible. I don't want to do it. I also don't let pickups draft me. I'll be a wild man changing lanes until he moves on. (Theft is a possibility)
As far as the governor problem bunching everyone together... I'll probably want to go into the insurance business and raise rates on everyone.
We will revisit this problem years from now when 10 robot trucks are platooned together inches apart. -
Dangerous and hopefully you'll be removed from the pool WHEN it does go wrong. Don't ever do it even some dinosaurs say they do it all the time. It's illegal and if the police see it, expect to be paying out. They might even add convoying to the list. Hard to look cool when your broke or riding that big rig casket.

I just have to shake things up with off topic stuff.Bakerman Thanks this.
