People say cb tricks had it but they do not. I had my radio peaked and tuned at the q5 cb shop in Madison WI. Well he did what he said he does not do. And turned my radio down, went from getting 21 miles on a good day to 2 miles if I'm lucky. I have the equipment to peak and tune the radio just couldn't find a service manual for it so I paid him to do it.
Any help would be appreciated thank you

Does your equipment include a accurate meter that measures deadkey, pep power, and modulation % ?. If yes what are the readings ?

Should have used Konnection electronics in Waukesha, Wi. Larry is fabulous. Small shop, but does great work, without the B.S.

Just get it to a good shop that will align it right, having a service manual with no knowledge of what your doing is disastrous.
rabbiporkchop and wolverine11 Thank this. -
Cant believe Q5 messed it up, forum member Volvo has highly recommended them and if he transmits and receives 20+ miles in a cascadia thats good enough for me.
-
Yep, turn power down, clip the limiters and add a b.s. super mod kit. Typical hack job. All overmodulated mouth and no range..

I'm not sure on the exact equipment it's my old man's, he has a pretty nice digital oscilloscope and old school watt meter with the slugsLast edited: May 24, 2018

I drive day cab and that is the only shop I go by every once in a while

If you were transmitting and receiving 21 miles why the peak and tune?

Because it sounded like #### and was over modulating when I had it hooked up to the oscilloscope. Was there originally to fix an Intermittent audio issuewolverine11 Thanks this.
