I think it boils down to how you go about doing it and if you can "develop" a system of sort, to make it fun and enjoyable. For instance, one of the few things I am not a fan of is the lack of home time for OTR, however, in this day and age of technology, where you have laptops, cell phones, etc, are you ever really alone? You can also get handheld video game consoles for instance if you're a gamer. There are many things to keep you occupied during downtime, when it comes.
The money is not exactly great starting out, but usually gets better with more experience. Trucking is a great job and doesn't require a useless college degree, and if you like to be left alone and not have someone breathing over your shoulder all the time, plus you get to see/visit all of the United States.
What do you think?
Would you agree that Trucking, despite being a tough job, is actually very underrated and rewarding

In this day and age... I don't now why any millennial types would venture into truckin ! I say get a job that respects YOU and enjoy spending time with your family/watching kids grow up.

It all depends on the individual. I personally find it to be fun. You have to keep your cool out here. It's fun to challenge yourself on how to make deliveries on your elog. It's fun to meet all walks of life. It's fun to endure trying to make deliveries in bad weather. It's like a movie, and you get every category of movie in this line of work. If you want to get the most out of trucking, don't spend too much time in the truck stop and don't spend too much time talking to other truckers. A lot of them complain about everything and will tell you to away, but the funny thing is, they would never leave the industry. It's rewarding and underrated because you get to make a big time sacrifice and serve your country in a different way. It goes unnoticed but when you do find someone that respects truck drivers, you're going to feel like a million bucks

after 30 plus yrs of OTR and regional, I've enjoyed 75% of it.
but I am glad to be retiring in Sept.
the distracted drivers are getting to be a real hazard. both 4 wheelers and truck drivers.
the GPS truck drivers, the ones who have no idea which interstate they want until the GPS tells them, then it's "GANG WAY COMING OVER" 3 lanes to get off.

Driving is a great way to get out and see the country. And earn some money.bryan21384 Thanks this. -
Rewarding if you like solitude with moving scenery. If you consider living in a box smaller than a cell, only seeing the worst parts of cities and the fine residents that go along with that, piss smelling parking lots , trash, fat slobs then yes very rewarding.
a-trucker123 and Lav-25 Thank this.
