save up the 3$ and get a little truck stop locater book ..... you cant run 11 hours with the elog anyways you have to be done driving before your 11 is up .... I will useually call the reciever and see if they have or mind overnight parking and then don't have to start my clock until I am unloaded if you stay at a truck stop 5 miles away you have to start your clock and you have to be on time or early and by the time they unload you and your 14 is caught up to your 11 and then your half hour break takes away from your driving time ....... that 14 hour rule is just plain stupid. ....... don't forget if there isn't any food within walking distance can usually get pizza or chinks

When I was in Washington doing pick ups my last pick up was scheduled for 6PM. After that there was no parking left for trucks anywhere. We drove around until we ran out of hours. Eventually parking near a neighborhood with no parking signs. Woke up in the morning and found 3 other trucks parked around us. Some times are like that. Other times it’s not so bad. It depends on the schedule and location. You might find yourself shutting down somewhere with no access to facilities.

You might get lucky and find a curbside spot at a truck stop. Then wake up and find yourself boxed in because people decided to start parking two deep. I’ve seen that a few times doing a 3 AM lunch break.

Ideally you’ll probably find parking at the customer location is best/easiest. Call ahead and ask them if you can do it.

Here's a trick I found might help you run faster.

You have a 15 minute PTI every shift and you have to take a 30 minute break after 8 hours from when you come online.

Don't run 11 stints. PTI while pumping fuel and run a solid 7:45. Stop, take a 9:55 minute break (try to get to the fuel island without tripping your ELD) fuel & run. Repeat ad nauseam

In a 24 hour period you will actually cover MORE ground that people who run 11 hard and pee in a bottle. You'll actually get 14 drive hours per day.

been taking a 5 to 8 minutes for pti fuel is usually 7 or 8 minutes if I do both I useually show 8 or 9 .. you don't have to show 15 minutes for each that's a mega carrier thing not dot .... unloading I show 3 to 5 minutes rest of time off duty ... on paper you have to show 15 minutes just cause it's divided that way if you help unload your supposed to show it on duty if you're feeling honest .... I will let things run a little longer if I absolutely sure getting a reset

His comment wasn't bad at all to be honest! I am just new to the carrier side of the business and was just trying to learn about the old school days, and how it differs today in the trucking world!
