The only madness is when you pull into the first available lawful parking spot and log out for your sleeper berth 10 hours after only 6 hours going down the road. Also call dispatch for a new appointment time and date.
The madness will begin there.
Every night this nation plays a grotesque game of Musical Chairs, er Musical Parking spots. Last one out is really out.Studebaker Hawk, fargonaz and TheyCallMeDave Thank this. -
Here is a crazy idea, how about they give a truck more time to make delivery ?? Then all those problems go away.
-
More time to deliver = less loads run = less money in the bank.

Oh gawd, yet another ELD crying session.
I wouldn't mind dropping a huge deuce right about now.Last edited: May 25, 2018
Bean Jr., Bank_Lbr, bryan21384 and 2 others Thank this. -
Because we work in the fuel industry it is mandated to have a system that tells you when you should take a compulsory break, for us its at least a 15 minute break with in 6 hours, and another 15 minutes with in 8 hours for a total of 30 minutes then before one has done 11 hours of driving they must of taken another 30 minute break for a total of 60 minutes in 11 hours of driving. I've yet to have an issue with it. Keep in mind this is industry mandated not a national law or rule in our case.x1Heavy Thanks this.

I understand your post very well.
I am not against a nice break now and then. However I am damaged goods because all I know is that I am already late get going. It's going to be potentially 3000 miles before we stop and rest a minute.
On really bad days just stopping for a hour lunch all I can do is add up the lost progress. I could be 50 miles further down the road while waiting on the horrible service.
But that is in my mind. SOmething I will always have to deal with.fargonaz and aussiejosh Thank this. -
lol, again, blaming this on a simple device and not the hours of service laws... If you don't like the laws, then call your representatives. Email your reps, fax your reps, get your trucker buddies to do the same. Do what the tea party and the resistance have done to create the change you want to see. But you better have some facts and figures to back up your whining. I was doing math... If you work a 70 hour week, and get paid 1200 for it, that's only about 18 bucks an hour. And you wanna argue for more hours to drive rather than better pay. huh... you think that's air you're breathing?

No thank you. We already have long enough days
