I started on 2006 on paper logs and I was expected to get the loads there on time, fueling had to be logged within a couple of hours of when we did it, empty and load calls had to be logged the same day as we sent them.
I know all about driving and creating a log page.
Then I moved to Crete to paper logs but the logs had to match pretty close, after 5 or so years they went to elogs,
.
Now I work for a small company, maybe 100 trucks, we have about 10 drivers at our “terminal”, elogs is no big deal.
.
The main reason I like to work for a company is because of the company provided health insurance, only a fool would go without insurance,
Im no buttercup but I sure ain’t a window licker crying because I cannot make a decent living running legal.

One of my pet peeves is when the hollier than thou eld lovers get on here and talk about run legal or quit.. most drivers have some illegal logging practices paper or not.. quit being hipacrits and climb off the high horses.. Who are you to decide it’s ok for you to bend the rules but the rest of us are A-holes who should run legal or quit..
-
Surely all members of the run legal or quit club start their logs first thing in the morning when they actually start working. Surely they would never sleep at their pickup or delivery so they can avoid starting their logs. Surely they log everything exactly as it happens and they would never fudge to preserve their 70 so they can drive more. Surely they’ve never abused personal conveyance. Log legal or get off the road, right?
-
I only work 5 days a week so the 70 never affects me. Still say it should go away.
My PTO is time based, and we are audited to make sure we are logging on duty. We can be term'ed for falsifying on duty time. So yes before any activity I am on duty. It benefits me, and it can cost us our job.
We do not use conveyance except in rare safety approved instances, and it's use is highly monitored.
I did not conceal deliveries when I was on paper logs. Seems dumb to me to work for free so I made sure it paid enough. Never understood the concealment mentality. I believe it to be the single greatest factor in the stagnation of rates and driver pay. Now both are increasing as drivers and O/O quit hiding what should not have been in the first place. -
The information collected such as location data, rpm, etc are not available at road side/scale inspections, genius. The only thing shown is the same as it's always been...a timetable grid. There are two accounts associated with an ELD. The driver account and the admin account. They are EASILY cheated. I can't wait until the driver facing camera mandate gets passed. You'll probably be A-OK with that too though.win-some-loose-less Thanks this.

If we email ours or print them it has the location. Also has a red check mark if anything has been edited.DSK333 Thanks this.

My ELD device shows location when you pull up data. Where you started, fueled up an where you stopped. I don’t care about cheating an ELD device , it’s there and I am trying to do my best take advantage of it. I am not cheerleader for an ELD mandate but it’s here to stay. We are regulated industry and that’s the way it is. As far as cameras go I got 3 in my truck for my own protection

Reference point is the nearest town with a population of 6000 or greater, per the rules.
Mileage travelled should close to match ECM to odometer, sometimes, but sometimes, not even close, so if there is a discrepancy, it should downgrade performance and require use of backup paper, it doesn't.
This is a hard wired ELD, so yes, I'm concerned it isn't meeting the standard, and I'm inadvertently in violation. No assurance it won't be questioned if the crap meets up with the air moving device, the standard is idiotic to me.
My yard is 18.1 to 18.3 miles SSE of the nearest population center of 6000 or greater.
I did get questioned about why I stopped in Gary, IN, when questioned on origin and destination of a load, it's not understood by everyone that there are myriad reasons for stopping, in enforcement, as well as the Dispatch office. -
I don't run any different than I did before elds. I stop the same places every night. Deliver the 3rd evening, reload, 2nd leg is 2 days, then 2 days to home. My problem is, If I run into a couple hrs of slow down, accidents, construction etc... I end up 1-2 hrs from home having to stop and wait till midnight to run the last couple hours. So instead of home feet up at 9-10 pm, I am 2-3 am. Don't want to wake the wife, so I sleep in the truck another night. Sucks. We need 2-3 hours discretionary time we can use every 70 hr cycle. Please?
DSK333 Thanks this.
