One accident and 2 moving violations in a 7 year period. One was kind of serious. You fully qualify for a CDL. I HIGHLY recommend you go find a tech school that does CDL training. Then make a list of all the Carriers that train. Your most desired at the top and work that list downward. One of these carriers will hire you. However stop the texting and make dang sure you keep that documentation on the vehicle when your operating it.

    Evergreenapple Thanks this.

Thank you, I just have trust issues, especially with someone I don’t know and never met, I’ve driven straight trucks for years, and I trained them, I wouldn’t trust these winners with fueling up the truck without help, let alone drive while I’m sleeping(then again, if we get into an accident bad enough to kill us it doesn’t really matter if I’m sleeping or not lol)

I’m thinking about going that route, but the only tech school in my area is $13k

There is a Pepsi plant that hires with a CDL permit and trains

Then by all means go that route. I do not know how far you are from Rosedale Technical College. However they offer CDL training (or at least once did) in the Allegheny Pa area. I have a great friend that is today a director of safety working for a Midwest carrier that used to be on their staff. I'm also thinking they have a great tuition assistance program too. I keep pushing tech schools because you avoid that year of servitude required after getting a CDL from a carrier.

Swift doesn’t do contracts, I figure if I go with them, run hard as much as I can until my reset, bank up all the money, pay them back and leave

The trainer will be sleeping while you drive, I didn't like it too much but I got through it. Time to sink or swim I guess.

Millis transfer is a better company that trains.

Most of the time carriers that (team) like this do it after a period of time. People can put this practice down. I'm not one of them. After several weeks a trainee should be able to operate a CMV with minimal supervision. Most of the better trainers are not soundly sleeping anyway. It takes YEARS to develop the ability to soundly sleep in a moving vehicle. Absolutely nothing wrong with doing this. I had a hell lot more have a trainee operating a CMV while a trainer is only a scream away then a trainee (just) popped in a CMV alone. Think about this VERY carefully.

In my driving academy i learned most injuries in truck driving come from exiting the truck more than anything else.

Swift is a 13 months contract. You can make great money there if you get on a dedicated acct and run like hell.
