Has anyone had to recover a truck to get a truck? I finished training with Werner on Mon. I tested out yesterday and went to fleet assignments. They took my phone number and said they would call me when they had a truck. Spent another night in the hotel and went back to fleet assignments this morning. They told me they are going to have me recover a truck and they were making the transportation arrangements but couldn't give me any info on the truck or where it was at. They will call me when they are ready. It's been 4 hours now and still haven't heard anything. How long does it take to reserve a rental car or plane ticket?!! I've had several drivers here tell me that whenever they had to recover a truck it was filthy and broken down. I was just wondering if this is a common practice with most companies or just with Werner.

Any time a driver abandons a truck someone has to go get it. They should be able to make the arrangements for a plane ticket and then cab ride to the truck, they can track the truck to within a few feet....unless they pissed the driver off enough to cut the satellite wires and move it...and yes, it will probably be in pretty rough shape when you get it, if driver was mad enough to abandon it he probably didn't detail it when he parked it....might wanna throw a can of lysol in your gear.....

Thanks for the replies, I already picked up some wet wipes and a bottle of 409. I figured it would probably be dirty. I called fleet assignments back and they said everything will be ready to go a 2:00 so hopefully I'll be out of here. Wish me luck.

yup, someone has to recover it... amazing that they would have a new person do it tho. take a camera with you, a throwaway or whatever. take as many pictures as you can to protect yourself. i know, i know, someone else left it and you shouldnt be held accountable but you might be somewhere down the line. if there is a working qualcom send a message stating anything and everything you can find right or wrong with the truck. take care and stay safe.

The truck might be a mess, but consider yourself lucky to get a truck so quickly. As you have probably read around here, some new guys are waiting a REALLY long time to get a truck after training.

It's a very common practice. I'm surprised he isn't waiting on a truck, to take him to his truck.
