I was originally scheduled to head to orientation on Dec.29th but the IL Sec. State screwed the pooch big time. Our school started our final tests yesterday. The Sec. State was supposed to send us two testers at 7am, they sent one and he was two hours late, and he left two hours early. We finished the pre-trip testing yesterday and he called it quits. He came in today and it's been snowing since 7am, so we finish the backing and turning in yard test and he calls it quits. The tester refused to do road tests because of road conditions. I'm so ticked right now, these jerkoffs just set me back a week on earning because they can't get their heads on straight. Now being Christmas week they won't be testing anyone else until next week so I had to call TMC and reschedule my orientation. I can only hope the state isn't this incompetent next week. The roads would have been just fine, except for the fact that there was not a single plow or grain of salt on the road despite the fact that it had been snowing for five hours straight. Just pathetic, of course we are the state that elected Blagojevich, TWICE. I've got my fingers crossed that they don't screw this up for next week too. Our entire class passed the pre-trip, 5 of 12 failed the yard course.

Ditto for me - Jan 5 in Des Moines. We did our testing at the SoS in Springfield last Friday. Weather sucked but the examiners were great.
See ya there. -
Same in Michigan, and we elected her twice. Seen one plow 3 days ago. Accidents on ice, everywhere! 100 car pileup 3 days ago, in the usual stretch of I-94. No money they say! Yet spending is up by near 2 BILLION DOLLARS from last year! But not enough $$$$ for a salt shaker. Democrats strike again!

Sorry to hear about your delay cplmac2 and I hope all goes well for you to be there on the 5th now. Either way it will be cold as balls there from what my recruiter said,,lol. Look at it this way, you'll get to spend New Years eve with family and/or friends so remember theres always something positive out of something negative.

Congratulations cplmac2 and OpenRoad. I've got my pre-hire from TMC, but you two are further along in the process than I am. I'm sure the two of you are very excited to be heading to orientation. Good luck to both of you and please, if you have the time and opportunity, send updates on how the orientation is going. Merry Christmas.

I picked up a laptop just for trucking so I'll be keeping the forum updated on orientation progress. OpenRoad I'll see you in Des Moines, it's good to see there will still be other forum members in that class.

I've been pre-hired and if I choose TMC i wont be going until mid Feb.

My first week of being on the road with a trainer which was two years ago in early December there was a big snowstorm in the midwest. Illinois got about 8 inches and waited for it all to fall before starting to assemble the snowplows onto the trucks. We crawled up I-74 at a measly 25 mph and there was no place to stop if we wanted to.

Finally got everything squared away, the SOS made it out to our school today and got most of us tested out. I will be in Des Moines on the 19th, this coming Monday. Anyone else here heading to TMC on Monday? At any rate, I'll keep the thread updated with progress at orientation. Thanks to everyone for your insight, I really do appreciate it.

Good luck cplmac2 I was supposed to be there the 19th also. But I had to find a secure spot to park the truck before I could go to orientation which took forever for them to apporve. Lucky I finnally got the okay from Gus today. I will be in Iowa on the 26th for orientation. I hope I make it through I saw one of there trucks on my way home from work and it would be awesome to drive one of those nice trucks everyday.
