Why not just pay on a w2 and pay your fair share of taxes.
    And pay workers comp.

    spyder7723 and Tb0n3 Thank this.

Its easier to work with 1099. You can deduct your internet, mobile phones, part of your home rent, restaurant visits, hotels etc. Our drivers like 1099 more than a w2.

    How long is orientation?
How do you go about training new drivers?

I am interested. Have Bachelor of Science degree, Certificate of Online Teaching, and TEFL certificate, along with 35 years/ over 5 million miles OTR. Clean driving record in every way. Never drugs or alcohol, or any trouble with law. However, I do nothing north of Richmond, Va., nothing east of Ohio. No Calif, Az, Ore, or Washington state. No wal-mart, no Aldi, no Publix, no beer loads, and no steady diet of food warehouses. I do not surrender my driver license to any shipper or receiver, and no chemical plants. Need paid for watching any safety video anywhere, paid for sweeping out trailer, paid drop and hook, paid detention, after 1 hour-not 2 hours, no laying over at truckstops on weekends, and at least a 70 mph truck. I will only consider a company with a 1 day or 1 hour orientation-you pay for drug screen, pay my way there and give me a return bus ticket before I come to your office. And need at least a $2,000 sign-on bonus (truckers are in demand) and paid the next week-no hold-back on pay. If interested in me let me know.Thank you.

That doesn't even come close to making a dent in the 15.3% in taxes.
In addition to not having workers comp.
Oh and there's the whole health insurance deal too.

Yes, let them know they need you-you don't need them from day one. By the way, I do have the college degrees and experience stated.
