Been reading through all the similar threads and got a lot of good info about putting a 6nz ecm on my 05 pete with a bxs C15. I have the boost and fuel temp wires, and free flow mufflers but still looking for better fuel mileage and of course power. I have a 6nz ecm and a friend who can do the computer work on the ecm. The ecm is off a stock 475 6nz. Would someone care to share with me what all I need to tell the guy to do to my ecm. From what I read on here, a good injector code would be the 6999? What else needs done to get all I can get out of this ecm and it to work right when I put it one the truck. Thanks!

upgrade it to a 550hp/1850tq program.....6999 injector codes of course

hunt for 550.......he is KING OF ALL THINGS CAT!

You can just bolt it on and go, as long as its a 70pin bxs. Flash it to a 550hp 2300rpm heavy haul program or better yet a 7CZ C16 2300rpm file.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if any other settings had to be changed such as turning off the over boost derate etc. Hopefully I can get it all done in a couple days!

With the twins, you could build enough boost to get the ECM to derate. To get away from this happening, just put a pressure regulator between the boost sensor and the head. Set it for 35Lbs and the ECM will give you full fuel flow.

I didn't think 6NZ engines had an over boost de-rate, it thought that was only a bridge thing?

A 6NZ or a 7CZ will derate at 50 Lbs of boost. Full fuel flow is achieved at 31.8 Lbs of boost, so a pressure regulator set at 35 Lbs will allow the ECM to go to full fuel flow and keep it from derating at 50 Lbs or higher manifold pressure.

The bridge motors derate at 30 Lbs of boost if I remember correctly.

    Jas Thanks this.

Instead of the regulator, can you just turn off the overboost derate in the ecm?

No, there's nothing you can do with it, but use a pressure regulator. Make sure you buy a high quality one also. I've had cheaper ones that will not allow the air pressure to return to the cylinder head.........maintaining the 35 Lbs of boost to the sensor for a couple of seconds, when the manifold pressure has dropped below this setting. Once the derate goes in to effect at 50 Lbs, the ECM cuts off the fuel to the motor until manifold pressure drops to 45 Lbs. Then the ECM will go back to full fuel flow and power.

you can also use a simple clipping circuit to stop the signal from the senor getting over 50psi, the car guys use them to get around boost derates on factory cars.
