Hi, not sure this is the right forum however I can switch if someone says where it should go.
I was reading on deductions and per diem under the new tax laws and it said this;
Per Diem Overnight Rule
If you are an employee, the law makes it where all W-2 employee’s per diem and any other reimbursements must be reimbursed on your paycheck by the employer and it is non-taxable. So, keeping a record and turning in any receipts to your employer is required as you will not be able to deduct business related expenses on your tax returns. It would be advisable to keep a copy of all business expenses for yourself for tolls, motels, repairs, etc., to verify they have been reimbursed.
So than what are people now being paid on their paycheck per day? And are you being paid per mile what you were told you would be getting?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not asking that. My question is if you worked 7 days and did 3000 miles and your suppose to be paid .45 a mile how should your pay check look?
-
3000 x .45 = 1350.00 minus taxes.

Driving 3000 miles, working 7days making 1350 gross= time to get a new jobLinte_Loco Thanks this.

Or 80 or 100 whatever

My last company(company driver) had a per diem plan.
They basically take the per diem off the gross, tax that, then add per diem back. Wind up with about $100 extra net per week. I think many company’s use the same basic concept. Save them money on taxes.
But the employee gets shafted on their taxes. Greater net, less fed taxable income -
What do you suggest?

Huh? The employee gets a higher net and less tax liability and he gets shafted, how?
