You can call it whatever you like it’s works the same because someone would have to speak for us o/o’s someone would have to be accountable for making sure lobbyists got paid to influence policy on the hill!! You don’t want it called a union that’s fine you can called it the own your own club for as I care.. the whole point is it would be nice for all o/o’s to be able to stand as one against the bull we face daily but also fight to keep dollars in our pocket!! The big carriers have buying power we don’t cause we don’t have a collective!! It’s suppo to be Ooida but I don’t feel like that’s what there doing anymore.. but one thing your forgetting we’d all have to get along and stick together

 

How long have you had your own authority?

 

My authority went inactive in December I’m leased to a carrier now what difference does that make

You are missing the point guy I didn’t ask for trucking to go back to the 70’s!! I’m just saying it would be nice to have the same things you stated earlier only difference is you seem to think we can accomplish anything as separate individuals

No, you're missing the point. When you ask for Unions you ARE stepping backwards. You clearly think a driver's union is a good thing. Sitting here crying about Unions needed to come save the day when they're the things that strangle a free market. You want to sit around and "demand" things instead of sourcing them on your own. In a true fee market, YOU make the competitive edge work for YOU. You want lower fuel prices? Go get them! I routinely pay at least .30 off per gallon from NASTAC. You want better shop prices? Go get them or do it yourself. The real problem here is you're not charging accordingly for your services and/or you're your business expenses are too high removing your competitive edge in the market. If you were getting the rates you wanted you wouldn't be complaining. You're surely won't get there being leased on either. Good luck!

 

I agree and I despise the Feds in my life as much as they are. Unfortunately, the Constitution gives them control of interstate commerce and I respect that piece of paper so I deal with it. Having to pay a measly $300 is nothing compared to what I gain. Having the opportunity to gross at least 100k a year is very much worth the hassle to me. I'm actually grateful for the chance to do such a thing and no union nor mega is going to get in my way. I know the OOIDA is far from perfect but they are the only real organization out there fighting in the courts and with the politicians. It's David vs Goliath here. Help them help us.

 

Look guy I’m glad we at least agree on something!!! I have been a Ooida member for quite a while!! I also agree they aren’t perfect but most people would say what is!! You get the exact rate you want on every load I commend you for being able to do so!! You mentioned a fuel card that gets discounts that is able to be done because a collective not one single person went to efs/tch or whichever fuel card nastic is using and demanded better rates.. Ooida’s sometime lower insurance is because a collective!! You obviously don’t like unions I’ve said at least twice call it whatever you like!! It’s okay for you to take advantage of the collective for fuel and whatever other benefits you get by being a Ooida member or nastic member but I call it a union and it’s the devil!! My whole point was getting better price options for everything out here or as much as possible!! If you don’t agree with that except for that fuel card you use then good for you!! I know it won’t ever happen but it is my opinion it would be nice
