We were done Sunday. Just a little testosterone flowing. No biggie.

The loves by my house was just putting these out today. Guy that does it was still doing it. It seems loves will be the first to actually be selling these

Amazon almost never has discounts on these units. And the same is true now. They are 399.99, and 499.99 respectively

Yep. Saw the 770 even though I googled 780.

No need to ever pay for GPS or dashcams, you just use your Loves or Pilot points. Really easy to rack them up, especially Loves.

Added info on the new "785-S" model which is the 780 with a dashcam built in; talked to Garmin tech support about it & apparently is based on an Android platform.

The built in cam is only about 70° fov though, which is way worse then any of their standalone dashcams so I wouldn't even consider it.

Problem I'd have with an integrated GPS/dash cam is do you position it so that you have the best view of the display? Or do you position it so the camera has the desired view? Seems unlikely that you'd be able to have both.

Exactly; in this case even if you position the unit dead center in windshield, it doesnt have a wide enough lens to take in the entire front view including hood mirrors.

Any other positioning of the unit would be even worse for recording as much of the forward/side view as possible.

I don't like my GPS to be in the middle anyway, preferring it to be just low enough next to drivers side corner A pillar to use the sunshade without interference.

The 3 latest standalone dash cams are 122° to 180° fov.
