I'm thinking about working for a mega, because there aren't a lot of companies that will let me bobtail 150 miles to get home.

A lot of those gigs will put you in your hometown on the weekends. Some might let you bobtail if the trailer is in a secured lot of theirs

Where do you live that you would have to bob tail/ dead head 150 miles to get home?

JB HUNT Intermodal, especially Chicago terminal.

5 days on... 2 days off.

They have freight just about everywhere.

Reason for edit: OP didn't ask about drug testing

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm unfamiliar with intermodal, but would need hometime about 150 miles north of Long Beach. All I know is you need a TWIC and you show up to the port to grab loads. How far do these loads go? Do you live out of the truck?

    @Editor...

The drug testing information is pertinent to employment for that company.

No one needs to apply at a company without full knowledge of an important requirement such as drug testing.

People put in comments about cats all the time thisthat have no relevance to the OP and I don't see anyone editing that out.

Most companies that run regional provide their drivers with sleepers like JB Hunt does because you're not home daily so you do live out of the truck for the 5 days you're away from home.

Check with JB to see if they have a terminal out there.

I've seen their Intermodal units out that way.

I know the Chicago terminal employs Detroit drivers as well and they are about 300 miles away.

Most Intermodal runs for JB can be completed in one driving shift. You're either pulling loads from railyards near the terminal to take to customers or you're picking up from customers to take to the railyards near the terminals.

    Also...

Make sure you check their drug testing policy. I posted it for you here but whomever runs this forum felt you didn't need that vital piece of information about that company and deleted it.

I guess you're supposed to either waste your time or just walk into it blind.

    SMH.
