We all wanted to be at one time, just that a lot of the wanna be's don't wanna be anymore.. Suits and ties driving trucks? Maybe they will help the image a little bit and be better than some of the steering wheel holders that are out here right now. Who knows, lets say we give them a chance and help them all we can. :biggrin_25525:

I'm gonna let you in on a secret that's bound to upset...

If the industry is to survive it will need new drivers!

It's the responsibility of the veterans to educate these new drivers on the right way to do it!

I would also like to point out how amusing it is that most of you would have every one believe that you were a master the first time you sat in the seat... Stop it, no body believes it. None of us were good when we started and these guys won't be either... It's called learning!

So before you get up on your high horse remember that you were looking for a job when you found the one you have now, no different from any newbie. And also remember that all the drivers that were driving before you were all saying the same thing about you when you started out!

Maybe in 5 years or so when the tens of thousands of experienced drivers that are out of work get back working the industry will need new drivers . The wannabes have families to feed and bills to pay . The companies that are hiring are doing so because they can't keep help . They hire inexperienced help and have them sit home for weeks waiting for a truck that will be available when another rookie finds he makes far less than he expected and needs to survive . When most of us got jobs it was because fleets were growing not because people were quitting because they had enough abuse .

Right now it needs freight and trucks. With over 900K drivers looking. Any perceived shortage, is delusional.

My money would be on companies screaming they need drivers, if there were 3 million unemployed drivers seeking jobs.

We're just a single forum on the web. Check the "Welcome Wagon" for the increase of new people within the past 6 months. Then consider how many are just lurking, without posting or joining. I suspect the number of people looking to trucking as a means of earning a living at this moment, is well over 1.5 million.

    With no trucks, or freight.
