    Hey Pharm,
My friend had actually been waiting for about 5 weeks to hear that he had been denied. All of his paperwork was good and they kept telling him that his app had to be approved by the board and that they didn't see no problems. He thought that it may be his work history being that trans-am also denied him. The way understood the orientation deal was that at first the intent was to bring in 10 guys at a time at the pleasant hill are but due to the circumstances in this area they could only start the process with 4 guys at a time. As far as the GORGE traveling it really isn't that bad as long as you use some common sense and be extremely careful. What was the girls last name if you don't mind saying...

5 weeks, man that stinks. I was turned down by Trans-Am as well, but I was able to find that out in a couple days. They didn't mention anything about a review 'board' that I recall, and I would be starting Feb 2nd if approved, so they dont' have a heck of a long time!

I'm not sure if I knew her last name, she worked at Clientlogic for a while where I was. It may have started with an "L" though... but even if I knew they don't let you use last names on here.

Oh, the Gorge, I meant driving it in the BIG truck!

I looked as well, it's hilarious :biggrin_25512:. Did you guys compare Mcelroy with TMC? I have been trying to see if there is a big difference between the two. Also, can they deny you because of past job history if it had nothing to do with trucking?

McElroy vs. TMC: I think you can probably make a bit more at TMC because they can/will keep you out longer and because the percentage plan could be good if you are really busting butt.

If you prefer the guaranteed home time, McElroy is better, also no military environment.

If the truck itself is important to you, TMC is probably nicer than most other companies. I don't particularly care as long as the truck is comfortable and dependable.

McElroy doesn't hire twice the people they need and send half home during orientation. You could probably step on the grass and not have rocks thrown at you.

No, I'm saying that's how it is at TMC.

If McElroy invites you to orientation, they're serious about giving you the job and you'd have to do something pretty silly to get dismissed.

    mceheel Thanks this.

The guy in our class that said he was going with TMC is a retired state trooper. Guess he will like the military environment. I'm willing to give up some money for the home time so that isn't a big deal. I have been reading evertrucker's thread on the life being a Crete driver. I see how being out longer helps with the mileage and wondering if I may like that better. At least you can put some days together and have some real time off. With Mcelroy doing the guaranteed time, it seems like it may backfire. Like, we will get you home for a day on the weekend and thats it. I may end up sleeping that whole day! Anyway, thanks for the tips.
