I'm in the same boat SS. I sat in Greensboro for 30+ hours (I was out of hours and hoping to get in a reset) only to be dispatched on a load that forced me to pull out just short of a reset to repower a load from a driver that had a breakdown outside of town. It was going to PA, (not good) and I got it there ASAP only to get the infamous "no freight" message. Not that it mattered all that much because I wasn't able to PU an empty after dropping my trailer. So I've been sitting here in PA with no trailer and no freight for the weekend. To be honest, I wasn't all that upset because I really wanted to watch the Cards beat up Philly. PARTY! PARTY! Hell Ya!
I had sent a message off to dispatch Saturday just before noon letting them know I was MT, but had no empty trailer and the customer wouldn't be opening the gates till Monday morning to allow me to get an MT. They just said there was no freight anyways and to hang out till Mon for an MT. "Holy Crap, you got to be kidding". Oh well. I'm sitting at 2500mi for the week anyway. Looks like I'm going to get a reset whether I need it or not. I don't.
I actually got a load offer today (Sunday) around 2pm along with a message that I wouldn't need an MT trailer to get this load. That's because it's a trailer that has been Tcalled in out New Kingstown yard and it has 3 stops on it along with 450mi. Looks like another trip up to Boston with a stop in Lancaster and NJ along the way. At least I've managed to avoid the DC mess. As close as I've been, I was sure I would get a load going into or at least through DC this week. I pity anyone trying to get through that disaster this weekend and into the beginning of the week.

Looks like both of us dodged that bullet. My load is going to Kentwood, MI (Grand Rapids area) for delivery Tuesday, anytime from 00:01 to 23:59. If it weren't for the fact that my house is on the way (from Covington, GA) I would be somewhere in Kentucky by now, and deliver the load around 03:00 Tuesday. But, my wife is willing to do my laundry for free, the shower is free (and CLEAN!), the food is fresh (and my wife's cooking is WAY better than any truckstop) and the companionship is second to none. So I'm spending the night here. I'll head up to the Pilot in Plymouth, IN tomorrow, then go on in the rest of the way (exactly 150 miles according to Google Maps) on Tuesday.
So, how ya been? I'm still waiting to see ya at a terminal or truckstop somewhere. I've now met 2 or 3 people from this board, still wanna meet the guy who brought me on to Crete. -
Hi all, I've read thru a lot of the posts and have a few questions that some of you may be able to answer. I know I could go through the company but for now, I'd rather hear what you all have to say.
I've been involved in the trucking industry longer than I would care to admit and after doing everything but repairing them and driving legally, I decided to go to school, get the CDL and go to work for a good profitable carrier. My whole life I've wanted to drive a truck. Crete is one of the three I've selected in my search. I do know a Crete driver rather well and he's very happy working there. The school is one that Crete recognizes so that in my favor. I realize that being a driver isnt the easiest job I could have chosen but it's what I want to do. Are they putting on any grads? I should be getting out of school and passing my exam with the state of Ohio in April. Let's hope the economy is starting to pick up. How long would I be with a trainer? I don't mind if its a guy or gal. I am going to learn so its a non issue. Would I be wise to apply at Shaeffer too? Would OTR or regional be best to apply for in regard to miles and being hired? I am done with the classroom, an A average. Started the backing skills but had to put everything on hold due to a family emergency and I'll go back for the backing and road mid March. I feel that with my knowledge of the industry it's a plus to doing a good job for the company. Anything that you all can suggest or tell me would be much appreciated. Thanks. -
I'm glad you made it out alive. That doesn't surprise me a bit. I'll never forget the Philly fans cheering when Michael Irvin got hurt back in 98 or 99.

I went to ASU in the mid-eighties. I used to "work" the Arizona Wranglers/Outlaws games with SAGA food services. I got some darn good memories of Sun Devil Stadium and the Tempe area.
Moving the Cardinals to Glendale and a fancy shmancy stadium is what I increasingly dislike about the NFL. Also what's with University of Phoenix (the mcdonald's of higher education) getting the naming rights? Couldn't they get Dial Corporation to fork over for naming rights? Or just forget the money and name it after Barry Goldwater - anything would be better than a fourth rate franchise "university" having the naming rights.
Anyways, congratulations to the Cardinals. However, the Super Bowl will show why the Rooney's hired Tomlin over Whisenhunt and Grimm.
Finally, Frank Kush will always be the King of Arizona Football. Camp Tontozona was every bit the human meat grinder of Bear Bryant's Junction, TX football camp. -
So does crete not hire drivers with sleep apnea then, I was told that that is not a disqualifying factor as long as you have a CPAP or BIPAP machine that you use when you sleep?

Hey Redbeard be careful when you leave that Pilot in Plymouth and head north, there is a couple little towns between there and South Bend that the cops like to work quite heavily.
-
You CRETE O/O or Lease Operators. I'm just curious, what pay option are you on? and why? I read threw the material and saw some pro's and con's... Thx
-
From what I hear if you have the machine youre ok, but check with them -
i hear theres 2 ways a flat fee of .85 per mile or a sliding scale depending on the length of the trip... 85 is just a about guess..i asked an o/o that also
