Pet policy flatbed companies?

If you hate that. Look elsewhere.

New drivers get whatever is left at a terminal. We're going all automatic and a lot of our older drivers who have already done some time in the seat are harping over the remaining manuals. We will be all automatic in 1-2 years at the longest. All new trucks are 680s/Cascadias. Paccar Powertrain. DT12/DD15. No apus, liberal idle policy. Older trucks are 10speed Freightliner Condos/680 Condos. I'm in one of the remaining 660's...

Trucks and trailers go home with you. If you live near one of our shippers you might be able to park the trailer there.

 

They have espar bunk heaters in them now. Supposed to be a lot less troublesome than the APU i have on my truck.

Not sure exactly how our new trucks are setup. I've been told Espar is great for heating... like will literally fry you out of the sleeper in the winter time. Not sure on the a/c side...

I will say the APUs are troublesome... and I've had more issues with mine than I care to admit. Tough sell for a company when the newer motors do fine on idling gph. They still have inverters so you're not gonna miss out on anything by getting a truck that doesnt have an APU.

 

No. They are not always on. I will admit -- I'm not a big fan of them. I think forward facing road cameras are fine but I don't like the fact that they have one facing me. It's not invasive though.

There are certain parameters that have to be met for the camera to go off and even then it's not a direct signal to the safety department at Tulsa. It gets sent to the camera creator first, Lytx, they make sure it went off within reason and then off to Tulsa. If it's a consistent thing, you'll get a phone call.

The newer trucks have a different camera than mine. Our new trucks have an automated braking system tacked in to the cruise control and the camera will go off if you're tailgating.

Mine goes off with too much applied brake pressure or a gyro event (hit a nasty pot hole turning in a truck stop and it flashes at you). Oddly enough I can tailgate as much as I want without the camera going off

It's just another way for them to bother the under achievers, imo.

ALSO with the pet policy. I do NOT have a pet that I ride with so I'm not 150% up-to-date on the policy... We allow dogs/cats and I want to say it's like a 70lbs limit on the dog. GRANTED, as long as you can scale out under 32000 pounds with all your gear they might end up giving you some lee-way. Pretty sure there are no breed restrictions either...

I will say there are some shippers that won't allow you on their property with a dog. So if you have a pet you plan on bringing with you that can't just be hidden under a blanket or w/e that would be something to consider.

FINALLY don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure there is some sort of payment/insurance requirement for the pet policy and its like a 750 payment (not monthly just like a one-time fee thing). I could be thinking about something else entirely though. Maybe @IluvCATS knows what I'm on about...
