Hi there. My husband completed driving school last month. He has 2 DWI's on his record, one in 1984 and one in 1995. The school said not to bother putting that info on an application because it was a long time ago and wouldn't show up. ( I guess because when they ran a check it didn't show up)
He filled out MANY app's saying 'NO' to the DWI question. He had a lot of bites. He ended up going with Werner because they could get him into training the fastest.

First day of orientation, they have you fill out another appy and tell you not to lie because they WILL find out. So, he didn't lie. He completes orientation and when he goes to get his trainer, they say 'sorry, you lied...bye-bye.'
    (No pay)

A lot of companies called while he was gone and so he calls them back and he is upfront honest with them. Strangely, he never hears back from them.
:biggrin_25520: This includes TMC (previously interested, now no longer hiring in our area,)...Lisa Motors , schnieder, some others..can't remember offhand.

Stevens Transport WAS interested prior to him going to Werner, but he won't even call them back now because he is AFRAID because he said 'No' to DWI question on that application, too.

My question is......is there ANY company out there that will be willing to give him a chance? I'm trying so hard to be supportive and not freak out...

but hey, rent is due etc etc :biggrin_25511:

NEVER leave those off an application. They are unlike any other driving violation. They will show up.

In the current state of the industry, it's going to be difficult anyway as the companies have their pick of drivers. Leaving something like that off an application will just make it worse.

Did you ever get a copy of your USIS report in the mail that shows what they sent the employer?

Run your own background and MVR and see what is on it. It's quite possible Werner only found out because he put it on the second app.

Also look into expungement in your state if necessary.

yeah, he's looked into smaller companies, but so far they all require experience. They say 'give us a call in 3-6 mths.'

he told me that he saw one guy get done with his trainer at Werner and get sent home for lack of work...or whatever. :biggrin_2551:

If it was in Texas, it stays on your record. No matter how long ago it was. Pull a long history and it will be there.

Everyone application I've ever filled out asks if you've had one in the last 5 years. I had a 15 year old DUI when I started ten years ago, it was never a problem for anyone.

There are companies that want to know if you have EVER had one. There are companies that will take you if you have had two, have had one, and some won't take you if you've ever had one.

The way things are right now, with so many drivers out of work, companies have the luxury of being extremely picky.

Things have also changed a lot in the last ten years.
