Hi guys. Im in need of a good shematic for the wiring on a CAT 6NZ ECM.
I HAVE BEEN AROUND THE TRUCK WITH A FINE TOOTHED COMB AND HAVE AN ISSUE RELATIVE TO SPEED OF THE TRUCK VS PROPER FUEL SUPPLY.
It seems at low speeds (up to about 40 MPH) all is fine, after that its like fuel is still being supplied but the ECM isnt getting correct data from the THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR OR OTHER.
My TPS is relatively new and i was told by the installing shop it did not need to be calibrated. So icalled Peterbilt who said yes and no. If the entire sensor and pedal bracket was replaced then no, it needs no calibration. But if "just" the sensor itself was replaced, then yes it must be calibrated.
Engine has been running good lately, but i had the truck washed yesterday and thereafter the engine ran absolutely horrific. Stumbling, extreme power drop, popping etc. Turned my fan on to get the air blowing accross the engine to dry whatever was wet. After 40 miles it got better but still i have an issue.
Wiring harnesses (engine and injector) are new, as is every sensor on the engine, fuel lines, pump, filter housing, divider and divertor valves on fuel supply and return. Tanks both dropped, cleaned out (they were clean to begin with) suction tubes in tanks checked, fuel pressure regulator changed, numerous air in fuel tests done (both tests of air before and exiting the head) all good. CAT replaced all 6 injectors under my platinum warranty. Exhaust disassembled /checked for obstructions/re-assembled, all good. Intercooler pressure tested, CAT installed a brand new test ECM which i drove with for 3 weeks and still no resolve. Hence the reason im in need of a good / clear ECM SCHEMATIC, so i can trace out wiring to sensors.
Power supply to the ECM connection at batterys is good, but theres 2 other power supplys to the ECM, one inside the left frame rail on my 2003 Pete 379,on the 140 amp fuse (which is clean and tight) but the 3rd one i have no idea where the power to it is physically connected to, and with drips of water seen inside my left kick panel fuse box, im curious if its in this fuse panel my 3rd power supply to my ECM is connected, possibly powering the section of the ECM brain which controls where my problem is ??
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

6NZ harness attached. @spsauerland posted your truck side diagrams in the other thread. Sorry to hear its acting up on you again. I think everyone was so happy it seemed fixed!!
TPS will usually throw a code if it is malfunctioning, if not, easily monitored via CAT ET. TPS is self calibrating. If it wasn't calibrated, it would not work at all.
If it happened after the wash, water made its way into an electrical connection. The problem is finding out which one. Something isnt seated or tightened properly/missing the seal.

Isn't the 3rd power come from ign switch??

    Oxbow Thanks this.

pin 48,52,53 are un switched battery positive. (many truck manufacturers only use 2 of these wires)
pin 63,65, 67 are un switched battery earth. (again many truck manufacturers only use 2 of these)
pin 70 is switched positive from the key/ignition

    Oxbow and swaan Thank this.

having trouble starting a can c 15 with a 6nz ecm took the power in connector off ecm and found that it does indeed have 12 volts but when put a headlight on the power pins it wont light it up. so that tells me that the wire is junk or that i have a bad connection so it wont support a load. Is it possible to run a wire for the unswitched power to the starter with an inline fuse and then also run another one for the switched power to the key with an inline fuse

Go to battery, much cleaner stable voltage.
