Not recommended to anyone brand new to trucking and it's irresponsible for anyone to do so IMO.
First hand experience with Sygma when they took over the Wendy's account in the Carolinas 20 years ago. All of the clowns and their supervisor came over from the previous vendor who promptly shut down when they lost the Wendy's account. Didn't take long to understand why they lost it.
I was still nearly new to food service - other than two very brief periods during the '80s. I dumped my trainer because he was a hate filled racist ### with a chip on his shoulder (left without him) - he was a favorite of the sup who was in charge of starting up the new operation. Was warned to never do it again - I asked for and received a new trainer! Imagine that.
Picked up our tractors at a downtown Rollins Truck Leasing location, drove to Atlanta to pick up our trailers and back to the Carolinas to deliver our routes - 18+ hour days were common - 2 to 3 people to the truck was common also. Seems like most, if not all of the core group that transferred over were on parole - one was arrested on the job site. All this many years later, I still cringe whenever I see a Sygma truck.Last edited: Jun 15, 2018

We take warehouse people all the time and train them to drive. Both chain(50' trailers) and sales/service(28.5' trailers) Sales/service is local, home daily, chain is just that, chain restaurants out 1-2 nights at a time, hotel provided, meals paid for.
As far as the way trailers are load, NC is a automated warehouse, floor loaded, in stop order(for the most part)
Been doing foodservice 16 years(driving 20) Seen it all when it comes to loads and GFS seems to be the only ones that figured it out, if you load out of an automated warehouse. Some warehouse still load on pallets. Bring a shovel LOLCardfan89, Warrior Cat and localguy65 Thank this.
