I'm in the thick of this too, I finish my Swift on-the-truck training this week, living on $50+ per day after taxes has been brutal. My mentor drives for an O/O who is leased on to Swift, so he is in a bit of a better situation. One of his students just signed up with the same O/O as well because he has been waiting since mid-Dec '08 to get a truck.
If I get the run around,
    1) what are my chances of getting on somewhere else with only 6 weeks driving experience?
    2) will my DAC get slammed?

There are carriers who will hire with short experience, however, they are far and few between. Just start making the calls. They are all quite familiar with the Swift MO.

Re the DAC - I am not worried about it just because other carriers are familiar with the Swift MO. I don't believe they will let any Swift DAC entry have any influence on their decision. Just my take.

BTW - Yes, they are starting yet another class of students this Wednesday. It's all very unconscionable!

I have been waiting since 12-22-08 for a truck . I have tried calling the fleet manager, the terminal manager and a couple others in the office. The only one that will answer the phone is Shaina(Decatur, GA.) in driver services. Nobody returns calls when I leave a message. I finally got through to the terminal manager and he said teams are getting priority when it comes to trucks so I said I would team. Still no truck. Nobody else will consider hiring me without 3 months experience( I only have the 6 weeks with mentor). I also can't get hired as a student driver at a different company because I graduated over 60 days ago. It looks as if Swift has really screwed me. Does anybody know of a company that would hire me in this situation?

Tell them to cal Memphis or Greer and find you a truck. We are running so low on O/O that they are starting to turn T2000 into company trucks at these two terminals. I know cause I have been to both and see them sitting there with the Swift logo on them

I did not go to a Swift school. Went to an outside school in Alabama.
