D'kota, Guess You've figured out by now that they won't be sending him straight back. Rolling trucks is what makes them money and they do want to keep them rolling. Just curious, does Doug have to call in everytime he does a fuel stop to get the card turned on? Thats what they did to me when I did a recovery. Am curious, why did he need a motel the first night?

ScooterDawg, like life, things have their ups and downs. Mostly up since I've got a truck and am running. Woke up the other day in NE and finally figured out what the definition of "a cold day in hell" means!!! 4 degrees and the wind doing 25 mph or more. Thats just to cold for this Oklahoma boy. hehehe
Will see if I can find that stuff and see how it works. Used those clorax wipes a couple of times and its really cut the nicotine down.
Am currently doing some hometime with the G/F. YEA!!!! Wondering if I should envy those drivers that are able to take wife/g/f with them or not? Got to admit that the homecoming is a great thing.
Wondering what they are going to do about the load I'm under that is now late. Was supposed to do a swap yesterday but that never happened. Oh well, not my problem

Panhandler, Doug had to get a hotel because they had towed the truck, think it was repo'd and that place didn't open till 8.00am he was dropped off at 2.00 in the morning so he had to get a room, nothing could be done till 8.00am.
Yea he's back at Olathe getting his own truck got in around 1.30 last night. He picked up a load in Emporia KS. and headed back to switch trucks then he's headed to TN.
As soon as he gets in his truck he'll put in for 4 days home time, Just because he's been gone for 2 months now. After that it will be 2 day every couple weeks.
I would like to go with him after his home time for 2 weeks but I have 3 dogs 1 cat and fish so I'd need to find someone to stay here at the house. To expensive to board them and they are pretty spoiled I would feel quilty boarding them. Yea I'm one of those people.
    Be safe out there.

HHAAAAAHAHA. Cold. I picked up in Waterloo, Iowa the other night. It was -27 degrees, with a wind chill of -40. My load was 9pm drop dead. I finally got loaded at 8:30am. The tripac wouldn't start. Wasn't going to run the heater by itself in that temp. I'd have had dead batteries in an hour. Couldn't idle the engine due to the idle timer, and you can't fool it by propping the pedal either. Talk about no sleep, I sat at the wheel for 4 hours hitting the pedal every five minutes just to stay warm, then passed out and woke up with ice inside my truck. The drool on the side of my face was frozen. It sucked. Then the refer stopped working before I ever left Cargill. Got two miles down the road to the Flying J for fuel and my starter freezes up. A hammer is a great tool, let me tell ya. Felt like I was hitting my own hand with the hammer every time I hit the starter case trying to free it up. I was so f'n glad to get down to Virginia.

Luckily as a lease op, I can have the idle timer removed. Not planning to repeat that night any time soon. These Thermo King APU's are pretty much crap. Mine eats coolant somehow, and like I said when its -25 and you really need heat it'll leave you hangin.

Oh, and about having your girl on the road... I had mine with me for my first 4 months. I will say, a T600 is not made for two people regardless of the two bunks. However, it was great seeing the country together and taking her places she would never otherwise see. It got boring for her though. 10hr driving shifts that cover the entirety of Nebraska and most of Iowa are BORING in the passenger seat. Heck, they're boring in the driver's seat. 14hr days also take their toll, and plenty of nights I'd be too tired to enjoy her company while she stayed up on the laptop adding to her myspace page or browsing craigslist for furniture. Had lots of sex in the downtime though. Actually she's 4mos pregnant now, lol. She very much looks forward to me coming home now, which is pretty often living in StL. I get home at least every two weeks without requesting home time. One week I went thru there 3 times, she was prepared for me to be out for awhile after that... hehe

D'Kota, Understand about the animals very well. My G/F has 3 dogs and 2 cats herself. Probably why she will never go out with me. Don't know if she could get someone to take care of them for 2 weeks. I have a BD next month and we are getting a cabin for 4 days and she's worried bout getting someone for that. Son lives right next door but is not a very responsible person. Likes his drugs to much. All the animals but the chiuahuas could be left out doors but.....may have to take them with us. At least they like me or can assume so since i woke up this morning with one on either side of me. Haha
Would add you to my friends list but am such a confuser loser and wouldn't even know how to begin. Bout to get my 50 posts in and will be able to send some PM's if I can figure that out.
Good thinking on the 2 & 2. Not only does it help to break up the road time, its actually easier getting the days off. Know that your reunion will be a joyful one when it happens. Wishing you and Doug all the best.

I have orientation with trans am on feb 4 in rockwall tx. Has anyone had orientation in Rockwall TX. How are the people down there and how bad is the traffic. I heard there was a lot of construction down there. How bad is it around the terminal. Also, has anyone had a road test there. Is it in a manual or automatic truck.

We were only in Rockwall once last summer. The terminal wasn't exactly beautiful. Olathe is a LOT better and it's not great either. There was a lot of traffic then and a lot of road work going on, there is also a TA really close by. Everyone in Olathe tested out in automatics, I would think Rockwall would be the same. At Rockwall, if I remember right, the driver lounge is a trailer. We never went in it though. We were supposed to have PM done but ended up taking the truck to Kenworth in South Dallas so never got to check the lounge out. Hopefully your experience will be a good one!! Best of luck to you, you could do A LOT worse than TransAm.:yes2557:

rockwall wasnt bad when i went
1st day got up at 6 got on the bus todo phyiscal,roadtest-really short and easy, pee test then some paper work- longest day
    2nd more paperwork 2-3 films
3rd day got out early got my truck before class ended

rockwall people are easy to get along with there is a smoking trailer and a lounge with vending in it
upstairs is a washer dryer.nothing big but it gets the job done i dont goto the terminals enough to care how big they are.
far as traffic its dallas its going to suck during rush hour like all major cities
and billsgirl is right right at the corner where ta is the road construction sucks

and btw all there trucks i think are auto the ones i tested in was anyway

I don't remember if I posted this or not but Doug finally got his own truck. Yea! He had a drop in Duspin Ok and is headed to Dodge City Ks and back to the terminal in Olathe. So far so good. He did have to wait 2 hours to get his fuel card turned on yesterday and their giving him a hard time about 4 days off, But since he's been gone from home for 2 months I hope they rethink it.
He's even been told 2 days is to long but I'm sure they'll straighten it out.
I did get a CB sent to him and a GPS so hopefully he'll find time today to get them installed. I bought him a T.V Microwave and frigd/freezer so I hope he can get home to get everything he needs to make his truck more homey. Besides I need my garage door fixed, #### thing wont open by remote for some reason. Since I live in Nebraska it gets pretty cold to have to always pull out to close the darn think and stop and pull it up when I get home.he he I also have a disease that causes gangrene and I've lost some fingers so that makes it hard to open a double car garage door, pretty heavy.
We actually have had a couple really nice days. I got gutsy and got on the roof yesterday and got my Christmas lights down, sure didn't like that job. Today is window washing, ladder again. I told my husband if they won't give him time off regularly, I will probably wipe out on the ladder anyway then they'd have to get him home. Just Kidding
Yeah Panhandler add me to your friends list it's nice to keep in touch.
