I've done it multiple times in the same spot, about mile marker 180 on I-90 in Wyoming. It was perfectly legal. We hauled oversized tanks fr9m Belle Fourche, SD to the oil fields around Wright, Wyoming. We had to do this because our loads were 17' 10" high and the bridge at exit 185 was 17' 6". We always had one state trooper blocking traffic from the west and one behind us blocking traffic as well as our Pilot cars. Fun times!
Dangerous Truckers are ones that think they're in a 4-wheeler

I was stuck on I 70 east in Missouri a couple weeks ago due to a bad accident. While I was sitting in traffic not 1, not 2, but 3 semis tried to run off the grass onto the frontage road and 2 got very badly stuck and one (trying to learn form the others mistakes) gets a running start, lost control and ran across the frontage road and into a business. Then another (a 4th semi) tried to make a U turn and failed. It was almost embarrassing to be a truck driver if you were stuck in that mess on the eastbound I 70 during that mess. When I learned to drive a truck almost 30 years ago, the first thing I was told was to forget everything I knew about a driving a car because it didn't apply to driving a truck. These new drivers never got that memo. I see them taking corners/turns like they are driving a car or forgot they had a trailer on. Yes traffic jams suck, but they suck even more when an impatient rookie semi driver makes a bad move that ties things up even more for an even longer wait.

Could not agree more. There's been quite a few times where I've seen a car or truck pull onto the shoulder trying to move up, then here comes an emergency vehicle, which has to stop and wait for people to inch worm around enough for the truck or car to squeeze back in, so the emergency vehicle can get by. It makes my blood boil.#wishfulthinking, bryan21384 and Linte_Loco Thank this.

I will take a wild guess and say that the trucks that got stuck had NO BUSINESS attempting it, they we're all likely specced as OTR trucks, with nice low roll resistant drive tires with shallow tread and dainty siping. If I were drive a T800 with aggressive Bridgestones with 1" tread, a power divider AND full lockers, I MIGHT try that stunt. But OTR drivers might see someone set up for off road successfully make it and think to themselves, "Hey, another trucker made it, why can't I???"
Because your truck nor your own skills aren't up to the challenge (fun).Truckermania Thanks this. -
Funny thing, 2 of them were O/O's, and 1 was a company OTR and the one who tried the u turn was a company OTR. The one that lost control had a nice KW W900 and he twisted that truck all up.

Well guys, this morning I am going to one of the 'burbs with my kids in the car, dropped my wife off earlier. We are going down east bound M-14 which is pretty busy at 6am, and on the west bound side is a truck with his left turn signal on sitting it looks like in the lane stopped, so I'm thinking is this idiot going to use the turnaround?
Sure the hell he did and he didn't even consider the traffic on the west bound side, he cut right in front of one car, but when he made the turn, he cut right into traffic and many of us almost plowed into the cars slamming on their brakes who didn't see him turn.
Now I didn't have my dash cam on, if I did I would post the video but his company may get a visit from me this afternoon - it is Tia Marie and these clowns are just as bad as Rush Truck drivers, always in a hurry and don't give a crap who they endanger.
