Sorry but something is not right here. I was making 30 cents a mile for Carretta in 1992. Here it is 26 years later an they are only about 6 cents above that? If your not making at least 50 cents a mile today your not making anything. Even starting out, you need to be around at least 40 cents. Furthermore, I have heard a lot of negative about DH as well as the good. One of our dispatchers in Laredo left and went over there for 2 weeks and he came back stating he could not work for them as they treated drivers like dirt. Now, you make of it what you will- but on the pay side its well below industry rates today.

If you are a driver and willing to do the work with DHT, you can make decent money. The offer some decent bonuses. There is a lot more that goes into the job other than the money too. On top of that, I am looking at making 65k or more this year alone with them. No joke and no BS. I have already run over 70k miles this year.

I wish they could be more positive, but am only stating the truth. All the best to you and hope they work out for you. Could be some major changes have occured. The pay rate is still low however. -

The pay rate maybe on the low side, but you also need to look at the other companies and if they are able to get you the loads you need to run the mile's to make what they are offering you for pay.
DHT is a small company. Most of the people in the office understand what drivers for thru on the road. They also understand what we do out here is what makes the money for their paycheck.
Yes, I to could go-to another company, but in the end can I really make the money I do here ?smokey12 and Watchman63 Thank this. -
Been here at DHT a while and never went through a negative experience with them. With this site, this is the first I heard of anyone having a negative experience with DHT so hope it all worked out with that dispatcher going back where he felt comfortable at. I train so my pay rate is at 46 CPM (trainee and my mile driven). The pay has done well by me even before the pay jump. My current trainee is at the team portion of his training and right now I’m at 5200 miles for the week(5200 x .46 = 2392 gross). They give you the miles if they see your willing to work. Plus recently had a event that required me to be home. Got me there with no problem and as soon as I was ready to roll, they had me out of El Paso in a flash. The freight network is consistent with DHT. All companies will tell you an amazing number at starting pay but you average so little miles. Here at DHT I have my loads sent to me as early as a day before I drop my current one with a average 1450 miles. They really are good, at least to me and my family, but sorry to hear that negative experience.
smokey12 and Watchman63 Thank this. -
Do they use automatic transmission or manual?
