@wore out I remembered I was in a 379 once. Brand new one. 2005 back when I started at CRE. Once you completed 3 leases with them they'd get you any truck you wanted, and the lease price went down $100 week as you completed a lease.
So anyway, they had 3 brand new ones there. One was like a real light lavender metallic, almost white. It was bad ###. 18 speed. Think had a cat. I remember the inside was smaller than the Century, but was opulent inside by comparison. These deep leather seats, all buttoned down leather, really nice metal gauges. All white or cream colored interior. Carpeted throughout.
I remember thinking " How in the world would you ever keep this clean?"wore out Thanks this. -

The problem is no company buys Petes long noses to give to company drivers. I have maybe touched Petes three times in company work ever. Long enough to understand they are VERY good trucks and a good fit for me, particularly the older iron ones before the computer crap.
B&B Concrete had a 379 day cab airride pete for bulk work. My trainer specifically QUIT and told the bossman, Scott to issue me that particular truck in order to stop me from pending quit because of that POS Paystar 9800 international they had. What did Scott do? give that thing to a rough nobody instead. One with very little experience. I finally quit soon after. But I'll not stop writing about that little outfit. It's not all bad, they had some decent autocars believe it or not. I loved them.
It's not for everyone. Ive had pretty much all the trucks out there. But I came across two petes in the auction house, one sold for 34000 and the other for 45000 on the spot. The 34000 tractor was the best. ive spent roughly 6 years working that auction house with trucks and Temp CDL crew as a boss and just about all the trucks had issues. With the exception of that pair of petes that day. I would have without reservation bought the 34000 one in particular personally if I had the money to write a check that big then. Instantly. I only drove it a little bit around the huge lot and discovered that everything is right and tight on that truck. Essentially brand new and only 350,000.
No wonder the bidders went crazy when I purred into the barn with that thing.
I run my mouth a little bit thinking about that particular tractor. It's better to fall in love and lose it rather than to have loved it at all.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
One of those Pete's with a dog box, never in a million years would I get that into many of the places I go, OR to do so would probably put a hurting on the rig that I wouldn't want to do. -
Now by the same token, I was invited to go on tour, BIG one, that pays good, catered food, blah, BUT, six month commitment.
Six months in Casper? Meh.
Giant dog box? Yea I could do that.
