What is this Rattle in the front of my Cat engine?

Safe to assume this is just a guessing game and nobody has ever heard this rattle I’m talking about? Sounds like it’s either idler gear or balancer. Too low on motor imo to be idler gear though.

 

I think that guy just likes the big blocks. If I had my choice when buying I would have went with one. I do know that the c12 is a million mile motor if serviced. Like I said, I run with a few guys that have well over 500k on them without an overhaul yet. Mine was overhauled very early in its life for whatever reason. When I called cat with the vin, they told me that there was problems with the piston squirts or something and my motor had a full rebuilt with the revised squirts along with everything else. New head, injectors,etc etc. complete rebuild. It went into the shop becuase they said the right up said the coolant system was pressurized

 

Thanks for this reply man. This is the same thing my other mechanic told me. Had the overhead adjusted back in the fall. This rattle coming from damper area. But obviously I can’t put my stethoscope on that while running. I scoped everywhere else on the front and couldn’t find the source except for the dampner
