Your car was unattended. I think you'd have heard it had you been sitting in a car right by it. That old van didn't have safety glass. That's not how modern glass breaks. It would take FAR more than a spark plug to break it today. And I'm pretty sure if someone was seen throwing things at a truck at a truck stop SOMEONE would say something or call the cops. You're trying though, I have to give you credit.
It's not the breaking of the window that you'd hear, it's beating the dash up to get the radio out.
The fact is that criminals are people of opportunity. That remains a fact that will always be true. Even cops say lock your doors. They don't say put bullet proof glass in your car that they can't break. Why? Criminals pull on door handles. Why throw spark plugs and crap at a door and break a window only to have to beat the crap out of the dash to get the radio out, when they can just open the door and grab the radio right next to it in the truck 10 feet away?
Anyone ever saw an in-dash CB mount?

I have an 11” wrecking bar. Can drop it inside trousers to hang on belt. The coax cable cutters go in side pocket.
In & gone in under two minutes.
I’ll sell it for beer money two days and three states away. (Muh momma gotta have cancer surgery, so I’m selling that and . . . .).
A clean dashtop tells no tales.

I’m more inclined to think no one would call the cops, but they would break out the phones to record and put up a YouTube video of some dope fiend stealing a radio out of a truck.
It’s likely they would pass on a difficult install, but the possibility is still there. I’ve seen someone snatch a cobra 19, he was caught a few steps away from the truck, but still, they’ll get whatever they want by any means necessary. -
Someone wants your stuff bad enough, they will do whatever it takes to get it...But why make it easy for them by displaying it in plain sight? And in your case, your making it a "2 for 1" deal!
May as well just leave the doors unlocked with the keys in the ignition....Last edited: Jun 12, 2018
BrandonCDLdriver Thanks this. -
Nice install there i Agree totally I hate the look of the radio on top of the dash
BrandonCDLdriver and Timin770 Thank this. -
Like the install! My 29 sits in the overhead, if I'm leaving the truck anywhere I take the Mike off so no cord hanging down, the radio is hard but not impossible to see. And I don't have any big obnoxious antennas advertising that I have a good radio.
