I thought Lanstar was fairing better then the other... Then again if they are only offering cheap freight that's probably why.... What are they paying these days?
She's not bad, but honestly the fact that she would do that makes her less attractive to me... Not, that there's any thing wrong with it... It's her choice!

People are delusional with landstar....They think it is the greatest thing in the world. When in fact when all is said and done you are making 30-40 cents a mile profit..on a good week IF YOUR LUCKY.They take alot from people.
I am parked and have another interview with a guy tomorrow for a nice job home evreyday, out and back and making 1,200 for me.a dedicated COMPANY deal out of kansas city.I have my fingers crossed.
But the selling point for landstar is you get to go where you wanna go....
NEWS FLASH:::::NOT TRUE ANYMORE
you go were the freight is.and that could be anywhere at this stage of the game.and you have to deadhead at least 300 miles and burn a day to get there...
Landstar is not what it used to be.AGENTS RUINED IT WITH GREED..AND RUMER IS C.H. IS TEAMING UP WITH LANDSTAR AT THE END OF 2009...LOL,LOL
-
The only positive thing I ever thought of them was there lack of tractor age requirement...
Honestly, If I ever considered going with Lanstar I would just take the next step and go Indy... There's no way I would pay a fee for the pleasure of using their trailers and I'm sure in hell not going to take a cut in pay to use mine... JMO!
No thank you!
Reminds me of something my Granddad told me before he passed away. "in thirty years there is only gonna be a handful of companies, cause they just keep merging and buying each other up"! I think he was right.
I fear the day that Schneider, Swift and Werner merge... That will me the end of the industry! -
This truly is a great industry. But for me so much has changed it..Your granddad is right..I have heard that for years know and it's heading for that..
I have many gripes, but the biggest one is ''drivers'' have brought all this on themselves, but blame everyone else.
To many drivers that are willing to work ''dirt cheap'' and job jump -
The older I get the more I find that to be the case...lol
I blame the newer drivers that got into this business as a a last resort, buying into the illusions!
I walk if I'm not getting a fair wage for my level of experience... But, if things can be worked out then I stay on one side of the lawn!
I wish driver would ban together and fight... But, the simple truth is that most of them have family's and can't afford to let their minds wonder into the what if realm!
I can't fault a man/women taking less for the guarantee of some! -
I see things very different then most people on this forum.I no this to be true.
I come from a very different back ground then alot of these folks.
I was raised into trucking in N.Y.,never went to a school and things were very different back then. Not to mention back then we had to unload are trailers and actually work very hard and drive the truck.
I am from the school of hard knocks and swinging beef up and down the boroughs. We had to be strong, tuff as nails,in shape and hard or we got chewed up and spit out.It came with the territory.I started out in an ole mack and was so happy to go into a cabover.lol, lol
Today they coddle these new people and teach them to be lazy and just drive...I don't agree with this coddling going on.
Trucking used to be a 'tough person's job'' today it is turning into ''hold my hand and coddle me job''..I can't relate...
It must be a ''society'' thing -
-
I better get back hauling some of this ''cheap'' freight for Landstar,I am turning into a ''computer geek''

While I was born in to affluent family and attend a private school and had my college paid for But, I know where my family came from, My Great Granddad, Granddad, Father, step father and Half brother are or were Truck Drivers. And my mother owned a brokerage firm of which she inherited from her mom and dad. Again my life has been in no way hard, But I know who built this industry and the hard road they had to travel( figuratively and literally) and I have nothing but the utmost respect for them!1pissedoffdriver said: ↑I see things very different then most people on this forum.I no this to be true.

I wanted to drive for two reason's I couldn't see myself wearing a suit like my dad, and because of my Granddad. He didn't have the money my parent's had, but for some reason he was the happiest man I'd ever met... After driving with him for one week I understood... He was free... He was a cowboy!
I haven't drove in over two months and it's truly hard. I miss the smells, I miss the sounds and most of all I miss my hand on the wheel and the feeling of the control I had in it... Last week I sat for over 45 min. in his truck(he Left it to me) with one hand on the wheel and the other on the shifter just looking out at that long red hood, just like I did when I was when all's I wanted to was drive it... I'm 27 know and just like when I was 8 all's I want to do is drive it!
I don't know if I will ever get to drive again, But my soul will always be driving down a back road with the window down and the worlds biggest grin on my face!1pissedoffdriver Thanks this. -
